what is the difference between "STREAM" and "LOOP" in Glitchscaper?

I can't find it in the manual anywhere. Seems like the built in help guide was not updated.

mini rant:
Glitchscaper is so cumbersome and difficult and I keep trying to get used to it cause i love the results so much. But I'm about to give up entirely on trying to use it to affect audio that I input into it. It's a shame cause I can see that it doesn't have to be so obtuse. The UI complicates it unnecessarily in my opinion. There needs to be an interface intervention IMHO :)

Thanks for an explanation on the difference between LOOP and STREAM!

Agreed, I absolutely hate this interface. It is not enjoyable to use at all imo.

  • It’s explained in ? Under the section “tone noise loop and stream” type of sound generators

  • Is it possible to get predictable Actual 'music' from this thing? Haven't read the manual YET, always like to let intuition play first, but in messing around, it sounds like you insert any sound, and each setting makes predictable (somewhat for that setting) useless sounds...

  • The “streams” bit is the best part of this effect. The internal sounds are pretty okay but using this to process incoming audio is fantastic. The interface isn’t too bad for all the controls that are involved. It’s much easier to grasp than Igor’s other apps. That being said, it does take a lot of fiddling around. I like to fiddle.

    Thank you! Found it!

I do wish there was a way for streams to alter frequency like loop mode, but I understand why it can’t. Finally got it working and can’t wait to fiddle tomorrow with my guitar!

I personally found Spacefields and Soundsaw easier to “learn”

It can be extraordinarily beautiful I found, but for me, the interface breaks the work flow too much. Maybe the more I get used to it, the better it will be.

  • I seem to recall that it is on the roadmap at some point for all 6 sections of a given generator to be laid out at the same time. This would be huge as it pretty much needs it for me to get back in, which I certainly would if/when it happens.

Useless in what way? I find the sounds I get form Glitchscaper plenty useful.

Same... I'm looking forward to that update, then I might actually start using this. I learnt it back to front but the UI/UX drives me bonkers. Anyway, that update is definitely coming, so, hopefully soon!

Very true about Spacefields and Soundsaw. Both of those are a bit more straight forward interface wise. The only Igor app I cannot get on with is BeatCutter. That one makes me bonkers every time.

Yeah I’ve tried with Beatcutter and I can’t quite wrap my head around it. I break it out every couple months and still can’t get much out of it but it looks so cool lol

Curious if a more user friendly/streamlined “wrapper” UI could be built out with 4pockets Surface Builder or similar app. A lot of work, I’m sure, and not quite sure of what is exposed to AUM, etc. but could be an interesting project. May look into it as the ui seems to be a huge barrier to entry to some phenomenal tools. I do ok with the existing UI but definitely understand the frustration people have when approaching these apps.
