My Kingston Nucleum usb-c hub is failing…best replacement?

Hey after 3 years the usb-c port failed on my Kingston Nucleum usb-c hub. I know this hub is held in high regard (by me too!)…. Should I get another one for my 2019 iPad Pro, or is there some better successor/alternative? Kingston doesn’t seem to have come out with anything newer or better and not sure of competitors. Things i definitely need in a hub are the usb-c data port for hooking up my AUDIO4c (or headphones), the card reader slots to host extra samples/files, and 2 or more usb-A ports.

Thanks!

  • Hi @stown. I recently switched from a Nucleum to one of these from Belkin https://www.belkin.com/usb-c-to-4-port-usb-c-hub/AVC018btBK.html and it’s worked flawlessly. When needed, I’ll use an adapter to connect anything that’s not USB-C.

That would be a good solution for me. Can it charge the iPad through one of the USB-C ports?

Absolutely. I have it powering an iPad (M1 Pro), a MOTU M4 interface, and a little Korg keyboard with one more port to spare. I like how compact it is, around half the size of the Nucleum.

I got one of these and hooked it up via USB-C from my iPad to USB-A on my iMac and it does not see it. It sends charge through to my iPad but doesn't show up on my desktop like my old Anker does. I think I'm going to send it back but wondered if you might know why my iMac doesn't recognize it. Are you on Mac or PC? Thanks!
