AUM or drambo instead a mixer for external drum machine??
I thinking about a solution for making music without a mixer. At the moment I don’t have one.
I would like to use AUM or drambo instead a mixer (with busses).
I use a zoom 24 with the midi I will send my drummachine into the iPad.
Which (AUM or drambo) and why do you recommend?
Thanks crew

Heh, at the moment i am trying out similar/same setup. I am running Deluge (groovebox/synth) into audio interface, connected via ipad, and AUM as my main mixer. Even using deluge midi channels to control synths in AUM. So far works flawlessly. Didn't try Drambo yet in this combo, but saying this i like Aum straightforward approach. Would like to have more inputs on my audio interface so i can have separate channel for deluge audio so i can do postprocess on it. Curious what other say on this topic.
Also you can have busses in Aum for parallel compression, fx.... And with few plugins you can do a proper mastering (pro mb, pro L, Barricade...)
Which Audio interface do you own?
Focusrite Scarlett 2i2
If it’s just for mixing, AUM makes more sense. It even looks like a mixer.
Thanks 🙏
I'm using Drambo and AUM together with external gear. But I'm struggling to get drambo to recognize incoming signals from my audio interface when hosted within AUM. Drambo in standalone mode works perfectly. When I use drambo as a standalone host, and I add the "Audio Input" module, I can see a long list: Default; USBi 1+2; USBi 3+4, USBi 1; USBi 2; USBi 3; USBi 4; etc. I can choose any one of those and the module will begin to output signals from the corresponding USB audio interface channel. Everything works perfectly. But when using Drambo inside AUM, the "Audio Input" module behaves totally differently, and I can't figure out how to make it do what I want. Instead of displaying a bunch of USBi channels to choose from, it just gives a simple list of numbers, and each time I close and reopen the app the number is different for some reason. It seems like it has no basis in reality. Sometimes it's 3, sometimes it's 6, and it changes without any physical alterations to my hardware setup. I don't know how to get my audio interface to play nice within Drambo inside AUM. Is there some trick to it?
An AU can’t directly access the audio hardware. You need to load it as an effect and have AUM feed it the audio.
Huh. Ya I tried loading drambo as an FX in AUM, but i was disappointed because it seemed that Drambo FX isn't connected to the same Multi-bus Audio Unit Instance as Drambo (8 outs). At least I couldn't find a way to make both the instrument and FX use the same instance of Drambo.
Instruments and FX are different AU architectures. You can use an fx instance like an instrument.
Yes, but it appears in this case that you can't use an FX like a Multi-bus Audio Unit Instance. Which makes it a bit clumsier and makes the interface more crowded. But I don't suppose it imposes many other practical limitations…
Ah. I hadn’t noticed that if doesn’t do multi-in/out as an effect
