SOLVED: AUM has suddenly stopped receiving MIDI data?

It sees the MIDI interface, and in fact in Camelot said interface and external keyboard are transmitting and working fine...in AUM, nothing.

Interface (Roland UM-1Sx) is selected and routed correctly.

Was working previously. Only change was an update to iOS 16.5.1

I have no idea, anyone else?

    Have you tried rebooting?

  • Yep first thing I did...closed every app down and then did it.

  • Have you used a midi monitor to see if it sees the MIDI?

Already confirmed MIDI is coming in to the iPad....just also discovered there is no audio coming out of AUM either ...weirder and weirder! other apps playing audio fine.

Umm, is there some way I can upload all my sessions to cloud, re-install the app and the download them all without losing any setup data? Or does it get wiped when re-installing?

It's about the last thing I can try.

You can backup/copy your AUM folder. That’s where your session files and audio unit presets are

Thanks - I've been perusing the manual cannot find a section in it about backing up the folder...if it can be done it must be there...just cannot find the section hahaha!

So in the Files app there is a folder called AUM with all the sessions in it...does that get deleted when re-installing?

EDIT: I'll just transfer them to iCloud quickest fix...I'll re-up the app and report back!

Nope, after doing all of that, left with exactly the same thing, no audio, no MIDI.

  • Had this a couple of times since lastest AUM update, AUM not receiving MIDI from my launchkeys MK3. There is a topic about that from someone with the same problem:
    https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/56455/novation-launchkey-cannot-connect-to-aum
    Air4 16.4.1 here.
    @j_liljedahl ?

Thank you I will read now...

  • I ended up deleting and re-installing all the apps saved in the sessions...there was only 10 didn't take that long (apart from PSP and NeoSoul 2 with all the samples hahaha!)

Anyway issue seems solved...it's now working again...Never heard of needing to do that but there ya go!

I don't think I made any changes related to MIDI in the latest update that could break this. Also if it works with other MIDI controllers (which I assume it does, or I'd be getting a huge amount of support emails about it!) we can only assume it's an issue with Launchkeys MK3 and not in AUM, since from AUMs perspective it's just another class compliant CoreMIDI endpoint.

It could also be an issue introduced with recent iOS/iPadOS updates, needing a firmware update on the Launchkeys.

  • I use several Launchkey MK3's with AUM in an almost permanent setup. I haven't experienced any issues.

The only difference being that I have not upgraded to iOS 16.

Another ticket I commented on was having MIDI issues on iOS 16 that I was not experiencing with 15.
