I’m thinking of getting the sax bundle. I already own the GeoShred tenor sax IAP so for £60, as well as getting more sax instruments, I want to fully learn how to play these instruments. Any suggestions for good YouTubes or other sources please?

I wanted to get my favorite 1 or 2 from each bundle, instead of getting the full bundles. For this purpose, I found the side by side comparison done by @Gavinski to be very helpful in determining which instrument from each bundle had the most pleasing tone.

Good to hear. Jeez, a lot of work went into those vids, as it did with many of my early vids. It's a pity that the whole Yt iOS thing just doesn't really reward spending that much time on one video, so I had to give up on being as thorough as I used to be!

Your video helped me to choose over Tuba / Bass Tuba, to pick French Horn F instead Bb. Too bad you don’t have a similar one for Flutes. But agree with @FriedTapeworm, there is nothing similar with that much depth on Youtube. You should make Patreon for the deep dive videos. 😎

Regular flute GeoSwam version is my fave. Geoswam bass flute and Naada bansuri are also very good.

Atm, I’m biased towards Alto Flute, but don’t have enough material online to make a clear decision. Also don’t want all those models to be locked in one particular control surface app. Need to find one Flute to cover my needs. Also should sound more towards ‘World’ than ‘Classic’. BTW, thanks for the info.

For the world sound you may prefer the Naada Bansuri on Geoshred. The SWAM standalone bass flute also has a nice bansuri patch. I have both, and it would be hard to choose between them. The Naada is duophonic and quite lovely, perhaps slightly more bansuri-like, but the SWAM bass has a wider variety of sounds. If you want the SWAM Bass bansuri patch you have to get the standalone, not the GeoSWAM bass flute.

I've never tried the SWAM alto flute. Here's Bud Shank on alto flute. He played the original solo on the hit version of this song:

In the meantime I already bought SWAM Alto Flute, and Bansuri settings are perfect for what I need, you were right. And just when I thought I’m gtg with flutes you opened up another rabbit hole for me with Bass Flute. 🫣

Flukutronic has some great videos, can't wait to dive in. 🤩 Also, if you want to listen best written piece for Alto Flute, Holst’s Neptune and Saturn is enough.

I actually own GeoShred Pro - I use the IAP saxes, flutes etc more than anything else. I fancied diving deeper into the “real” instruments that SWAM offer - but had no idea that GeoShred could control these! Thanks

Yes... Just make sure in the Swam settings that you choose geoshred as a controller. They have so many different options in Swam depending on the controller you use and if you don't tell Swam which one, results may vary! Drastically sometimes

I have purchased the Swam Alto Sax to see how I get on. I’m trying to control this with GeoShred, as below. Every note “sticks” when I touch it in GeoShred. I cannot work out how to set GeoShred as the controller in the Swam settings? Can anyone help please? The KB1 keyboard works just fine as it is, but I’d like to use GeoShred if possible.

  • @BillS are you using the GeoShred Default midi preset in the SWAM. Maximise the SWAM screen, click the Midi icon towards the top right and then Presets top centre. Then select GeoShred Default… you may have to scroll down a little. Let us know if that doesn’t work 😊

  • @GeoTony yes, I have that selected but still getting stuck notes 🤨

  • Strange… I can force a stuck note by laying both hands on the GeoShred playing surface (which i reported to Pat (moforte) a while ago) but I’ve just loaded it up and in normal playing it’s fine. Does yours happen straight away, after a while, what IPados version etc?

  • Happens straightaway, every time. I can cut off a stuck note by touching either another note, or the pitch bend or mod sliders for example. I’m on a 2021 iPad Pro, latest iOS version. I might have to make a short video and contact Pat.

  • Same set up as me… think Pat’s your man !

And make sure your playing surface is clean. Believe it or not, playability becomes more difficult if you don't clean the screen ever so often.

  • @BillS : in GeoShred , maybe try choosing AU MPE as the midi mode.

That’s all that was needed! Thank you …now to compose a masterpiece 😂
