Death By Picasso
@jo92346 Hey Joe. I took your advice and ran a few noise gates on this to clean up some of the mud in the low end. I think it helped a bit. @Stochastically I tried to take out some of the “music” while still keeping with Brian Eno’s definition of Ambient. There is still a Pure Piano section that I couldn’t resist. This is all new to me, but I’m liking it. I hope a few of you enjoy it.

That sounds super good. The piano is definitely totally required.
The last part is great.
Different for you, Paul. And good.
I really like it 👍
What is Eno’s definition of ambient?
Thanks, Mike. I actually had the graphic and the title long before the “music”. I use the term loosely. This seemed like a good time to use them. There was an urban legend about Picasso. Apparently, he liked to carry a revolver (loaded with blanks), and he would shoot critics who asked about the meanings of his paintings. I can only assume it was a myth, otherwise someone would have beaten the shit out of him, and we would have heard about it.
I hope you and your lady friend are enjoying life!
Eno said…
Ambient Music must be able to accommodate many levels of listening attention without forcing one in particular; it must be as ignorable as it is interesting.
I think that leaves a lot of room for interpretation. This is just my take on the subject. Others may disagree, and that’s perfectly fine with me. Thanks for listening and have a great day!
Really cool! Love it!
We are, Paul. She’s moving in with me next month. At my age there’s no time to waste!
@Paulieworld Very nice and interesting more in the experimental side of ENO
Rockin' good news!
Experimental works. But, would you agree that it meets his original definition? There is a lot going on for anyone who is actually interested in picking it apart. 16 tracks to be exact. On the other hand, if you turn the volume down a bit, it's just a bunch of noise and completely ignorable. Eno never specified that it must be mellow, relaxing, atonal, or unstructured. I think that just sort of evolved over time. Thanks to you and @Pxlhg for listening!
I agree with you.
Okay, just put down your revolvers; it's ambient, I guess. Unless it's too interesting to be ambient Come to think of it, Eno's famous Music for Airports is fairly 'musical' but definitely ambient.
I wouldn't bother to much about trying to pigeon hole a specific genre - it is just a great track that holds the listener's interest (well, mine at least!)
@Stochastically @AlterEgo_UK There are so many genres these days. I can't keep up with them! I remember when there was only country, jazz, rock, and classical. There was never any doubt what you were listening to. I miss the good old days.
Great stuff… lots happening but it all felt cohesive. There’s a bit at 2:50 that reminds me of early Floyd but I can’t remember which one 🤨 Top work !
I’m hoping it’s Echoes. Did I ever mention I was in a Pink Floyd tribute band? We didn’t get many gigs, but it was fun. I have the day off and I’ll be posting something that is very special to me. I hope you can check it out. Have a great day, my friend!
Your a man of many talents 😊
I’m still trying to find the track I’m thinking of… let you know when I find it… good luck with your track !
An "industrial wanna be" darkish ambient soundtrack to a modern remake of a spaghetti western featuring a dead overrated Spanish macho bastard painting with a Colt in the main role. Interesting !
Lately, when it comes to ambient whatever the subgenre, I like to divide it into 2 kinds: the good type where you don't notice that a lot of things are happening and the bad type where you notice that nothing's happening at all.
