Looking for ways to bring MIDI sources in/out in AUM for a demo
I'm trying to set up a demo video on iPad using multiple apps in AUM and I'd like to be able to change MIDI sources, and use MIDI commands to enable/disable them. For example, I'd like to have Atom 2, Auto Bass, and Riffler sending MIDI to a single bass synth instrument, but be able to switch each one of them on and off via MIDI control. The idea is to use Surface Builder (or other MIDI control device) with a few buttons that will let me switch between different demo scenarios without having to load a new AUM session.
So far I have not found an AUM control command to disable/enable the MIDI, although I have tried using the Bypass control, but that doesn't seem to do anything. It might be possible to start/stop the MIDI output from within the app, but it would vary with each one, and I would prefer to have a method that would work for any MIDI source.
I was wondering if anyone knows of a method to do this, or if there's a way to achieve the same result with a different approach.
Thanks!

I have not tried it, but how about using MIDI buses ?
Each source gets connected to a MIDI bus.
The outputs of all these buses go into the destination,
You can now enable/disable each individual bus via MIDI and switch the MIDI stream from the source on and off.
There's something wrong there then because bypass will definitely do exactly that. I'm guessing that you've routed the midi source to the plugin, not to the AUM midi control system.
@catherder - That's a great idea. I'll check into using MIDI buses. Thanks
@wim - You were spot on. I was routing the keyboard to the MIDI instrument instead of AUM control and it works exactly as expected now. Thank you
