Using Gauss with AUM and sequencers

Hi y’all!

Noob question. I am struggling to use gauss recorded loops in the same timing as other items I have in AUM. Is there a way to synchronize the AUM play and stop button with the Gauss loops?
Thanks!!!

Double tap loop length to move from seconds to beats if I remember correctly…

  • Thanks for your help. When I double tap that item it changes to beats per second but the aum play and pause buttons do not control it.
    ;(

I think you would need to midi map from a controller using AUM's midi control and map the same midi event to the AUM transport and the relevant AU parameter in Gauss.

Gauss can't be controlled that way... If you want a looper that syncs to host Enso is a possible option. I have to say, I do wish Hainbach and Bram had been a bit more flexible in this area. It would have been so easy to add sync, but Hainbach wanted something that would push people away from the average looper into something more experimental.

There is still an option in Gauss to make the loop return to a start point according to number of beats / bars. If you don't know how to do this, check the manual.

You can also control the transport via cc messages. But damn, a sync to host feature for starting loops would have been easy to add and would have opened up Gauss to more use cases

  • I would probably do it this way:

You can control the tape speed by automating it from 0 to 1.00 by midi cc or auv3 automation
There’s also a REWIND TRIGGER exposed auv3 parameter that you can automate or send midi triggers to

So use the tape speed to 0 as your pause, and the rewind trigger + speed to 1.00 as your play I guess

Keep in mind gauss is much more fun “off the grid”

Thanks y’all!! I can totally see where the inability to do so can be a push for creative impulse but man…. I am such an amateur!!! Anyways I will read the manual and attempt the midi map idea. In the meantime I was able to use two little loops I made in Gauss into two versions of some sort of melody.

Thank you!! I listened to it in my car and the bass is muffled and rather on the low side…. but at least it is not too loud haha!
