AppleCare+ for iPad
Hello,
Obsesive Lurker here. I thought I would ask a few totally unrelated music type questions. Applecare+. Do you have it for your ipad? Have you used it? Is it worth the $100.00 cost, plus $50.00 to use the service? I plan on buying an ipad air, possibly the next gen. I've been saving money like a mo-fo. The extra $100.00 won't be an easy thing for me to come up with, but is it something that should be a priority? I don't plan on abusing my ipad, but schtuff happens.
Thoughts? Thanks for any opinions and feedback.

Usually, I only buy those policies on equipment with parts that can break.
In the case of the ipad, I wanted to have hassle free help at the drop of that hat, and if you have applecare, they are super nice.
maybe instead invest in a case? (i did that also). i like my case crown and it's cheap. there are downsides to that, too.
but if money is an object, a $25 case is cheaper than $100 applecare.
How's your history with electronics? Where do you plan on using it? How rough do you expect you'll be with it? Is anyone other than you going to use it? Do you expect to use it after a fifth of scotch? I agree with JfB on the case.
I paid the $100 and 2 years less 1 day i dropped my Ipad3,shattering my screen, raced over to store,no probs,1 hour backup,a $40 charge, totally anecdotal-but i agree with johnfromberkeley re. the case, its the corners that are the most vulnerable,so get them well protected.
I had very limited knowledge with even general use of tablets. That was my reason for shelling out the $100. Apple will spend unlimited time on the phone with you until your issue is resolved. They do screen sharing(love that) and were very patient. I would renew if they offered it.
Thanks for the responses. Case for sure. Prob. the protection plan as well.

I only use apple care for things I plan on keeping past the manufacturer warranty. Since I upgrade my iPad each time a new one comes out, no need really.

Ah, the ads we could come up with in some alternate marketing universe...
I get AppleCare on all of my products, and I've used it on all of them. If you have AppleCare, the folks at the store will really work with you on accidental stuff. However, on my Air, I purchased it over a holiday and forgot to get AppleCare. I didn't remember until my dog shot across in front of me and tangled my headphones in her legs and proceeded to drag my shiny iPad around on my tile floor. It was awful. She was terrified of the big piece of electronics chasing her around and I didn't help by screaming like a little girl. Anyway, lesson learned. I will go back to my "always get AppleCare+" policy going forward for sure...
I bet there's a dog conspiration involved fify-fifty with Apple.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Obviously, each case is different.
@Fjcblanco
I've got my eye on the lifeproof fre since I can remember. Check it out. One can film underwater.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
@boone51 Please post sample of this 'screaming like a little girl'. Have urgent project etc.
@boone51 Funny. I can picture that . lol.....The dog, and then the scream. I've done it with my kids.
@Macao95 I Wow, I just checked out the Lifeproof cases. Impressive. The Fre looks identical to the nüüd, except that the Fre protects the screen? And it seemed that maybe the nüüd offered a bit more functionality, or something?
If it does what they say, I could take it out on a gig, it could fall off my sound system into a swimming pool, or hit the ground, and i could dust it off, and keep playin.
Wouldn't think I would need the protection plan. Still need to think about it.
The question to me is not the plan itself; the question is to pay for 25% of tablet price.
100 bucks isn't 25% of an iPad Air here in the US. It's 20% of the base model with wifi only. Not to nit pick, but just sayin...
Well, Spain is another world. They translate directly 1€=1$.
