A word of thanks to all the creators here.
Not sure if this is the correct topic category.
Just listened to a few recent posts under creations. What strikes me most about this forum is the unbelievable diversity. That all the wildly different styles, methods, tastes and personalities can not just coexist but appreciate each other. Thanks to everyone for pushing an old guy’s musical envelope.

Yes, we’re fortunate to have top tier members for any and every aspect of music making. And always helpful in sharing information as well.
The more you give here, there more you will reap. People remember a kind and supportive reviews and they will pay it forward positive review energy. Try not to tell them what you would immediately change… unless they ask.
It’s a really good practice (I find) to review the CREATIONS thread for all post that have no comments. So much really good work slips past review because a post last a hour or two on the main page and most don’t read deeply past that page.
So, I try to look at the CREATIONS using the search query “Comments 0 “ to find lost souls. I can think of a few that seemed to take those “saved from obscurity” comments as validation that their creations could be safely posted here… and then they develop a real audience of members that listen to their new creations as they surface.
Of course, we do loose a creator every once in a while to the outside world and it’s distractions. C’est la vie. But we can be sure we prevented them from just hanging it up and developing a video game addiction.
I love that diversity most, we have everything here from literally generic made RNG music to the authors performing with self made instruments splitting the mountains and rising the tides with their creations. For explorers like me, this is the place where you can find enjoyment and new experiences on a daily basis.
Joining with @boomer message, thank you all! 🤩
Agree!!!
This forum with all its great people, helping each other out on our very diverse musical journeys, is unique. We all share the love for music, and the creation of it, regardless of the tools or genre.
Yeah, sometimes things can get stirred up a bit when people disagree about something like the needs for certain function, workflow or similar. I admit, it can be tiresome when an A vs B discussion relating to a minor detail in an app turns hot because in the end it’s just a tool for creation and there is always another take on things and subjectivity.
But we all seem to keep in mind that this is a place where such discussions are legit, and that does not mean the person behind the view is bad in any way. We just have different perspectives on things, and we share those perspectives with each other. More than once I’ve had eye-openers.
A sincere thank you for all the knowledge and help I have gotten throughout the years.
Regards,
DMfan🇸🇪
Agreed. There are so many cool and talented people here. I’m often in awe of just how great everyone is. And it’s ALL iPad for the most part. Amazing.
That was my exact experience. When I first posted nobody commented and I was actually embarrased about what I posted. But a couple of people, you included, made some kind comments a few days later. And then you suggested to a few other specific people that they listen. That was a turning point for me. Validated was exactly how I felt. I do have a real audience now, ridiculously small but real. There are some creative giants here that I am fortunate to be able to share with. I need to start following your example more.
I think it’s sometimes difficult for a variety of reasons for people to leave a comment describing exactly how they feel about a piece of music they heard here - so maybe tend not to bother. Don’t want to sound gushy, don’t want trampled on by others for criticising and don’t want to sound vanilla either….. there’s nothing left to write! 😅
I’ve had exactly this problem, but am trying to get past it. So much good stuff here, and I run out of words sometimes. But feedback is important, even if at times I’m almost speechless after my heads been taken to new places by someone’s work.
Also, I hadn’t posted much of my own stuff here until fairly recently, worried it was too abstract or weird. Which is daft, and I’m becoming more confident about my music these days.
That’s good to hear. Sometimes the weirder the better. Weird must mean it’s new - right? 😀👍
It’s really fun to see a creation brought alive again that passed through without comment even tho’ it got a 100+ views. Sometimes creators hear will do the unthinkable and comment on their own work just to get another pass through the gauntlet. Asking questions like “What do you think? This is my first ever shared work so let me have it.”
Can break the “round of indifference” but that really taints the input… too thirsty.
But most creators are impacted by silence in ways that break their spirit to share anything at all. There are hugely talented creators here that have never posted any work for their own reasons.
I will tell you that providing positive feedback for creators on a consistent basis builds online relationships that can sustain you when the well goes dry and they encourage you to make something when the fire goes out.
We all have an audience… I believe that’s true of all musical creators: singers, composers, EDM, Hip Hop, etc. There’s someone that will recognize your strengths. You just need to keep putting out work to build that audience into something that sustains your expectations from listeners. Most will just know when to remain silent if it’s not their thing. Thankfully, there are very few critical asshats here. When they surface the community shuts them down pretty quickly for just being cruel when they could hold their negativity back out of respect for someone’s creative spark.
I get inspiration from everyone here in every genre and all the micro genres.
I try and listen to everything which is probably why I’m normally about two weeks after everybody else 😊
I also struggle to say anything original, my musical knowledge isn’t great so rarely comment about anything technical but I do try and comment in a positive and supportive way wherever I can. Sometimes just a simple 👌 is enough.
I totally agree with @McD comment above especially about all of the very talented creators who never post their work. Im guessing that something like 80% of the creations are posted by 20% (or even just 20) of the regular posters. I think it would be a better, more varied place if a few more members posted their creations but it is of course their prerogative to do whatever they want 👍
Yup, the diversity is amazing … Extreme amount of very talented people here, i am glad i can be member of this society.. lots of inspiration !
TBH I don’t think I’m doing anything that hasn’t been done before, though I think I’m starting to find my voice. Though maybe that should be “voices” as I don’t genre restrict myself. Or try not to. Todd Barton’ advice to “follow the sound” is very much in action in my current stuff, though I’d not really made the connection until now.
This is the most Important contribution to this forum. That a pity that all old folks in this forum that only argue against newcomers never go to heard what we post as music in the creation section.
I would be also please to heard the creation of experts , or folks that seems so called expert never post a track created by them. I don’t believe they are really artists or even true composers or even sound engineers.
If you give advice , sometimes bad advices , you should prove with posting creation and your tracks here isn’t it @ErrkaPetti or even @Samu
If we are on ABF as music maker or dev creating music apps sometimes not just to say bla bla.
The most interesting people , always quiet in forum are the one that post their thanks on the creation section
Everyone has the right to NOT share their work too.
Those that share are hoping for some validation but there are people that do not need or want approval… the work is really the reward.
So, I try not judging those that appreciate a community that is focused on the process of producing music and more generally, sound. Glorious, powerful batches and palates of sound. Bathe in it’s possibilities and be made new.
And accept that beauty is still in the ears of the listener… and we may never all agree on what is or isn’t beautiful in some unique way.
But sharing the journey is where we find common ground to continue in the journeys.
I am not completely agree as when a folk as @ErrkaPetti tel to most people you are idiots not to use LP4i and that he is an expert on LogicPro on desktop from 2012 and what to use .
Ok so if you act like that you must prove that you got the level to do music and his not here just to blame people. I can accept opinion against me if as I do at least folk like him publish what he do as a musician very rich one it seems in his case. I speak about this bloody Swedish @ErrkaPetti that make me not loving Swedish people so cold people.
If you do the lesson to someone publish your work or close your mouth when you hurt a folk like I was.
A great musician can be rude with me and I will accept that but not from an anonymous never publishing is music. I ask him to publish and he @ErrkaPetti doesn’t want to do that so he is not musician at all. A music maker share his music and music is about sharing except when you are under non disclosure agreement because you compose for a famous one as I did.
@ErrkaPetti I ask you to publish on ABF creation section what you create as music or if you don’t want to stop being rude with people that don’t think you’re way and close your mouth .
If you publish here what you do , it will be a proof that you know something to music and you have my respect and will forget how rude you were against me.
I am illand perhaps 10 years to survive so if @thesoundtestroom decide to exclude me from here ok but it should exclude too @ErrkaPetti as he was hurting me badly even physically by its comments. To be rich is not an excuse to hurt fragile and humble folk like me. Particularly ill people . @ErrkaPetti you have no hearth to act like that because you are very rich and can buy pricey apps that poor people can’t buy , stating that it is not for poor peo0le like me .
Thank to all a great musician DJ producer that will play some part of my music at Tomorrow Land 2023 the 23 th of July in fron of nearly 100 000 electro music lovers. Great musicians were always kind with me and giving me advice even if I am an humble hobbyist. They make my dream coming possible because they have a great heart not willing just hut me as do @ErrkaPetti always here
