Impaktor workaround? Which app has ability to automatically export songs to our music library?
Hi all,
Until the very talented team at beepstreet are able to update their live drum playing app impaktor with audiobus, I'm trying to come up with a workaround to jam along to music ideas I sketch out in my other audiobus apps. In the impaktor, you are able to jam along to songs in your music library so was curious if any audiobus enabled app (or any app) had the ability to export a musical idea directly into our song library? Im hoping i dont need to include my laptop and that its. simple audiocopy/paste kinda thing.
thanks in advance

If you want to jam along can't you just play your "musical ideas" in your audiobus compatible app then switch to impaktor and play? I don't think Apple allows apps to add music directly to the ipod library.
If you're jailbroken, you can do this easily with Bridge cydia app
@ryan I'm pretty sure that the way IMPAKTOR is built, doesn't allow the app to be used with background audio from another app. It triggers the 'Latency too high' warning. I only did a quick test now with loopy and audio share. It's possible there is a combination that may work, I haven't found it yet using that method. For non jailbroken devices that is.
@ryan - spokenzoo is correct. there have been several times ive had a jam goin on in loopy or bm2 and felt inspired to bust out some congas or whatever on impaktor but as soon as i switch over, no sound. its the latency thing.
yes i could record the congos by themselves but man you need to hear the musical idea to feel inspired to bust out a good rhythm.
@saveas i might just consider jailbreaking for that feature alone. thanks for tip
Yeah, I have a feeling that Impaktor won't be on the bus until the next generation of iPad comes out, or they implement a latency adjuster. As it is, it simply won't work because (I believe) it operates at a latency of 128 with no facility to change it.
I ACP any loops I make on it. It's a really good app, so it's a shame it seems technically impossible for it to support Audiobus right now.
@gjcyrus Have you tried Drumjam? I know it's a different beast. But it does sound like the next best alternative to what you're tryin to do.
@SpookyZoo Speaking of Drumjam, whenever I try to clock sync it with Loopy, the first drum loop starts from the middle of the measure rather than the start (subsequently it goes to the start of the drum loop as you'd expect, but the first time through is from the middle). Anyone else experienced this?
@michael_R_grant known issue he's working on. The temp fix is to record a bit and then clear the loop. Works fine afterward.
@syrupcore Aha! Thanks! Wondered if I was doing something wrong.
@spookyzoo. Yes i have drumjam but it has preset patterns whereas with impktr, you create the feel you want, more natural, organic if you will, for music
I was thinking more about the Jam pads than the presets. It's an alternative, but I understand what you mean.
oh.,, i completely forgot about that. ur right. itd be similar to bm2 as well. its better than nothing. i guess i could always just email it to myself, convert it to a mp3 via audaicity or similar program and transfer to library
Hey @gjcyrus, ok it's late here, 3am, but I just tested something that may work for you. Probably simpler ways, but try this.
If you send your 'Audiobus sketch' to Soundcloud somehow (Audioshare maybe) and then stream that track from Soundcloud via the CloudDJ app, Impaktor is quite happy to have that playing in background audio allowing you to Jam along.
Impaktor will turn off the audio if you try to stream direct from Soundcloud.
Hope this helps.
Ohhhhh!!! ur a genius! thanks man!
okay, ill give that a go!
Niiiiice!
@gjcyrus ha, no genius, but hopefully it lets you jam until the awesome pic above comes through.
Mind = blown.
Wow.... I need a cigarette...
