Nicely dusty. Instant haunted generation vibes when you put warbly darkness over sunny vintage beach vids. It is building a terrifying sense of expectancy. Little do these innocents realise that, in just a few short moments…
Reminds me a little of the accidental masterpiece that is Carnival Of Souls. Such a low budget production they couldn’t film sound on location properly, so had to dub much of it in after, onto what was essentially a silent movie, using non professional actors. Ended up with a somewhat similar, stoned, out of it vibe.

I also get the terrifying sense of expectancy. What about a dark and low voice starting a monologue that would go something like:
"The car's on fire, and there's no driver at the wheel
And the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides
And a dark wind blows
The government is corrupt
And we're on so many drugs
With the radio on and the curtains drawn
We're trapped in the belly of this horrible machine
And the machine is bleeding to death
The sun has fallen down
And the billboards are all leering
And the flags are all dead at the top of their poles"
