Baby Audio Crystalline - issues with the shimmer section

I am not able to configure the Shimmer section of Crystalline. I can only press the on/off switch, but the 6 dots above it cannot be changed manually. I try pressing or dragging the individual dots with my finger or with an Apple pencil, but no matter what i do i cannot make any changes to this section. I have this issue with both the standalone and the AUv3 version. Reinstalling didn’t help either. I am using this app on a 12.9” M2 iPad Pro running iOS 16.5.1c.

I have seen videos of iOS demos of this app and I see people making changes to the shimmer section, so i am comfused why it doesn’t work for me. Anyone else having this issue too, or am i overlooking something?

  • Confirmed here, it used to work by dragging on the dots

  • Same here - they do work mapped to cc as a stop gap.

  • Same here. It used to work without issues, it's probably some sort of UI glitch.

  • They're going to fix it in the next update, must have got broken

  • Yep same here. I noticed it the other night and meant to post about it but it slipped my mind.

  • I would imagine these changes come from Apple changing something that devs have to patch. Solid companies are in it for long term reliability. Solo devs probably give up after a few years.

    They're very slow to fix it though they are aware of it. Maybe if people email them they'll be a bit more urgent about it?

    Bummer as it’s one of my favorite reverbs on iOS. I’ll write them as well. Maybe that’ll help light a fire.

    Developers often prioritize fixes based on the direct feedback they receive. If few have contacted, they may make it a lower priority than if a lot of people mention it to them directly.

    Developers often prioritize fixes based on the direct feedback they receive. If few have contacted, they may make it a lower priority than if a lot of people mention it to them directly.

    I usually do, but since Gav said they were to fix it in the next release, I assumed it already had high priority so it didn't feel necessary

  • I contacted them over a month ago. Their reply was terse and unhelpful: Yes, we’re aware; no, there’s no timetable for a fix. I expected better from a premium-priced app.

  • Yeah, I've emailed them again saying ppl are grumbling that they're being slow and asking if it could be fixed soon.

    It sometimes (pretty often) happens that a bug is on a dev’s radar but they hear from so few directly that it isn’t a priority.

    I once worked with a developer whose response to a bug that kept getting mentioned on KVR Audio was “I’ll roll out a fix when support gets 10 messages about it otherwise I’ll roll it into my next update” (this was a somewhat niche app). There were more than 10 messages on kvr, but only two or three people contacted support. So, decided it wasn’t important enough to take time away from the other apps he was working on.

  • Yeah, so best that anyone who cares send them an email. Really, this should always be the approach for any bug / feature request from any dev, I guess!

    Agreed. The only time I don’t write to the dev is when the dev themselves has said “fix will be out in X days”

    The desktop release for Transit was an “all-hands-on-deck” situation, but as things return to normal we can get back to working on the mobile platform.     Thank you so much Tristan! Yes i was also hoping for a fix of this bug. Every time i use the app i am a bit bummed out that i cannot control that section of the plugin. But i am happy to read you guys are prioritizing it now. Looking forward to the fix 🙏😎👍
