  • Now that's a bad... Double kick mother......

I am not into stats but you have to share your secret with us. 56 followers, track published 11hours ago, 125 listens. Is this Illinois thing just a cover for a giant Chinese bot ramification ? 😉

This isn’t really my thing, but people on SoundCloud seem to like it. Quite frankly, it was a lot of fun to do! When I played it for my wife, she said it was “silly” for a man my age to be doing that. I had to agree, but the whole idea is to have a little fun with this. Hence the old saying about an old fool.

I took your advice and listened to GSY!BE. A lot of the tracks were a bit too long for my preference, but I think I listened to sections of about 10 tracks. I had never heard of post-rock before, and it gave me a lot of ideas. Of course, I’m putting my own spin on them. My next posting will one be such track. I think I may have discovered a new genre!

I won’t be able to finish it today between the opening of “Oppenheimer” and my wife’s other plans for me, but maybe tomorrow. I would love your opinion. Have a great day!

Don't get me started again on GSY!BE. I love them from the bottom of my heart.
I saw them two times when I was still living in France and these are the best shows I have ever seen in my life in terms of intensity.

Post rock has become a generic term which includes so many things that it doesn't mean anything anymore.
Still there are defining acts. One of the most important might be Tortoise from your hometown, Chicago (one of the reason I dream of visiting Chicago one day is because there are so many bands I love coming from there, it is a mythical land for me). Strange mix of rock, jazz unclassifiable.

Another very important band is Slint. Brian Eno once said that when the velvet underground first album was released, very few were printed, but each person who bought one of these album ended creating their own band. It is the same with Slint, their album Spiderland is just its own world. I love their guitarist David Pajo. He is a legend who played with so many different bands.

I would also recommend the Scottish band called Mogwai. Listen to this track, a personal favourite, it sets my spine on fire everytime

The islandic band Sigur Ros is also highly recommended. Ethereal music and textures with angelic vocals.

Explosions in the sky is another great band (from Texas) "the earth is not a cold dead place" album is truly beautiful and they're about to release a new effort, I heard the opening track, it is great.

Once in your life you have to listen to the band called Lift To Experience, a trio from Texas. They released a mythical double album called the Texas and Jerusalem Road. The singer signs his faith all along in such an way (a la Jeff Buckley) that it is very inspiring (I am not religious)

You also have to do yourself a favour and listen to the whole discography of one of the greatest Canadian band: DO MAKE SAY THINK. EVERY SINGLE track is pure diamond.

Two amazing Japanese bands to listen to Mono and Envy (I had the chance to open for Envy with one of my band 2 or 3 lives ago, it was huge, a sonic storm).

More recently, the band Deafheaven released a album called Sunbather. I define it as A WTF in your face. The vocals take a while to get used to... Perfect to treat your tinnitus

maybe @richardyot or @Gavinski could complete my recommendations, I suspect they are a lot more knowledgeable on the topic than I am.

Then once you're done with all that, treat yourself with Math Rock...

  • Really fun production mate! Love the drive and energy in this piece! 😎

  • Too old? Wtf. Is Jagger too old?

  • Nice one! Lots of energy in that track.

  • Hi @JanKun Thank you for the recommendations. There was no music in my life between 2004 and 2019, so I missed a lot or simply forgot. Now that I have this new hobby, the only music I listen to is the music I invent, so your suggestions are appreciated.

I especially enjoyed Mogwai. Very melodic and pleasant. I try to avoid the dark as much as possible. I spent too many years there! I also checked out Tortoise. I watched a video of them playing on a rooftop. Great stuff! Looked like fun. I think I might know one of those guys from years ago!

I am half Icelandic, so of course I listened to Sigur Ros. Very beautiful and relaxing, at least what I had time to listen to. I have always been a fan of Björk, and I even wrote a song about her. It is still the most popular piece i have ever done.

I hope to visit Reykjavik one day. My sister went about 10 years ago and she loved it. My cousin Hofi was Miss Iceland of 1985! She was, and still is, quite stunning.

Regarding visiting Chicago - be very careful! It has become a very dangerous place. There are an average of 8.3 shootings every day. It’s hard to imagine an “average” statistic for such violence. I wonder who “.3” is. Its not widely reported in the evening news. I guess it doesn’t fit the political narrative. It’s sad that this once great city on the lake has gone so far downhill. Anyway, have a good one!

Actually, he is! I had a blast making this one. I kept thinking… what can I do next? I could have stretched it our for a lot longer, but it was getting dark. Thanks for checking it out.

Hi Colin! Thanks for the tip on that vocal effect. I am looking forward to using it. I don’t know when that will be, but I’ll know it when I hear it. Have a productive and creative day!

Glad you liked Mogwai, they have a huge discography already, and I cannot recommend enough Do Make Day Think. It is not dark and they're really a great band.

Since You're interested in Icelandic music for obvious reasons (what a cousin you have!), You probably know of Múm. Their album "Finally we are no one" is great.

Will listen to your Bjork inspired track later tonight (it is night here).

I need to make a playlist of these artists!

Both of you are inspirations for me to remember the passion I had in my youth for music and to honor music as being its own reward at the end. Keep posting your visions here.

  • @McD Yes sir! I’m on it. I’ll have another one in a few minutes. I don’t know what genre it is, so I’m looking for some advice.

  • Love that riff! Awesome track.

Yes it did. :) Again I really enjoyed it.

  • Please pardon the bump. I have a friend that wanted to hear this. Rather than have her search, I just pointed her to the new Loopy Pro forum. Have a nice day.

  • This is great Paulie! Age is just a number.

  • High octane fun and energetic, love it.

  • @ecou @knewspeak Thank you fellow LP forum members. Have a great day!

  • Missed this first (and second, maybe third) time. Great track!
