FYI - there's a category set aside for Logic Pro posts.
Some pretty valid points in that video. Hopefully things will get added over time.
But, in the same time, funny that this guy precisely missed what Logic Pro for iPad is lacking for the moment…
For the moment we can use external AUv3 plugins to complement what’s missing just now (almost)…
Man, most of users that will reviewing Logic Pro for Ipad from MAC side would be disappointed. Most of people from IpadOS world would be happy. It is about context
(Yes, I know that it is a simplification from my side)
Don’t be mad at me, but at this point of time we have already gone through this many times. And the ‘Pro’ debate is so tiresome. I’m out! 😵💫
I guess videos like this get clicks…
I enjoyed this vid - it doesn’t have that many views at all, mind you, considering the size of the channel and the fact the vid has been out for nearly 24 hours. Makes me wonder if this guy paid for fake followers, to be honest. But anyway, the content and delivery is good, imo.
I don't know about that, but I noticed the vid had almost no views earlier which was unusual as his vids keep getting recommended to me, and they typically have plenty of views.
I checked his channel earlier and it looked like he took a break 2 months ago, and his vids from the last 2 days haven't been getting any love from the YT algorithm or something.
I sub to John Mike and didn't get a notification for any of the vids he put up over the last few days, and I was scrolling through the feed for a while, looking up something else, when the vid this thread is about turned up. So it also wasn't even pushed into my feed.
I only sub to a small handful of YTers, so it's unusual.
Ah strange - yeah I was very surprised this didn’t’t have more views, it definitely deserves them
Another nagging YouTuber who wants thinks the iPadPro is a full blown 'MacBook Replacement'...
...seriously, he already has Logic for the Mac so for his use case a M1/M2 MacBook would the better choice.
Sure Logic Pro for iPad 1.0 lacks a LOT of things and there's not been a single update out yet...
(I'm now up at 80+ Feedback Requests to Apple but will NOT waste any more time writing them before we see an update).
My recent 'annoyance' is the lack of drag'n'drop support import & export of midi-regions in the Arpeggiator and no visual indication at which step the silent capture is at. This is super usable for creating transposable step-sequencer patterns among other things.
There's not even any viable reasons to create videos like these for other reasons than click-bait...
...I do wonder how many feedback requests he's sent off to Apple?!
I bet ZERO as it's easier to do videos and vent out the frustration LOL.
Cheers!
Yes you will.
I completely agree with you.
Actually, Mike's channel is really cool. He's a really talented player and seems a pretty straight (i.e not over-hypey) shooter. One likely source of his audience numbers might be the keyboard review (MIDI 'boards, specifically) side of things. I must've watched at least 2-hours of them, myself
On the spot, exactly my feeling (even through he touched one of my issues with LPXi - horrible stock plugins UI - one for him for that :-)) and also other one - in general clunky UI - for that another
I think main problem of LPXi is not what is missing but how is implemented what is there, which is much bigger problem than just missing features.
If you’re getting paid for your music/work, then everything you use is “pro”.
That’s true!
In the long run, there aren’t that many years back that Logic Pro for iPad in current state would be on pair with the Pro DAW:s on desktop…
most likely Apple will announce in the fall a number of -pro- records on radio that were tracked / mixed all on iPad.
I think it’s partly because since it’s a free one month demo a lot of people already know for themselves what it’s missing and what it actually does have. I watched some of it but didn’t watch the entire video because at the end of the day it’s just his opinion as far as it not being pro.
I’m considering using studio one on laptop and iPad Pro on iPad..Doesn’t quite make sense but I just love the look of S1 ….silly, I know
Did you mean Logic Pro on iPad? How do you use "iPad Pro on iPad"?
That was uncalled for. If you care about the tone of this forum (which I believe you do), that's the kind of thing you should keep to yourself unless you have concrete evidence.
@Telstar5 Those are my DAWs of choice. Studio One user for many years - the best!
It really is….
What Dokwok said, as much respect as I have for Gavinski, though. He’s done a lot of good around here. But Dokwok is right.
It already got discussed above, a reason was given and accepted. My reasons were suspicion were valid, but of course I have since taken them back and it was all resolved very quickly. Note also the key words 'it makes me wonder...' in the original post. It was not an accusation.
