Weird thing happening on SoundCloud
I posted a track a few days ago. It’s called As Stars Go Out One By One. I thought it was a nice little tune, but not particularly great. For some reason I have over 1000 plays! It’s not THAT good. Has anybody had this happen to them. If it’s legitimate then I’m delighted. If not, it’s messing up my stats. Any ideas how to fix it?

Ha ha… beat you to it …

A miserly 230 for me but still 10x what I normally get 😊
I guess that makes sense… sort of. I wish they would do that to all my stuff! I’m sure that comes at a price. I told my wife about it and she now thinks I’m some sort of musical savant. Oh well, maybe I’ll get lucky tonight.
I had to turn away a couple of groupies earlier on, I was busy washing the pots…
I haven’t posted much to SoundCloud and what I did wasn’t super serious.
The last thing I posted had close to 500 plays but I think that was mostly from you guys on here because I posted asking for feedback on a more serious piece I had written.
I had that happen on YouTube once. Most of my posts get a few dozen hits up to 100 or so in the first week (some much less). Then one track got like 1500 in a couple of days. Never figured out exactly why
@baconink @jimhanks
@GeoTony had mentioned that it’s a new “feature” from SoundCloud called First Fans. They are apparently referring listeners to tracks that they think they will like using some sort of AI algorithm. So, I guess it’s legitimate. I was going to delete the track, but I think I’ll keep it, after all.
First comment after OP @tja
It always used to irk me when after I posted a new track I'd almost immediately get a notice that it was 'liked' by some random, person; usually a young woman; no doubt a bot. That seems to have stopped lately.
Do you both have paid version?
Still happens to me with the paid version @Stochastically . What I have found is that if you upload the track as private and then make it public at a later stage , definitely over an hour later but the longer the better, is seems to fool the algorithms so you definitely get less attractive young women pestering you 😊
I noticed that the replies were usually from hot young ladies. Nice to look at, but… Oh well.
BTW, does OP stand for Old Person?
Sounds like you boys are having a spot of the usual trouble:
Crikey… I’m the bloke to the left. If I knew this was being taped, I would have worn my good jacket.
I’d rather have 10 followers that follow overtime than 1500 that pop in for one listen. I say this knowing I’ve never had 1500 listeners so it comforts me. It I did get 1,500 listeners I’d just keep making the same thing over and over.
That’s what happens to the one hit wonders.
Shhhh… my wife thinks I’m Justin Timberlake.
Well… that explains things. How long has she believed this? He’s 42. Maybe she used to think you are Harrison Ford?
I’m much cuter than Harrison Ford. Not as rich, but cuter.
It actually happened again on a track called "I Swear To God". It's probably a combination of real people, and a few bots. In any case, I'm always glad when people take the time to listen. Thanks for listening!

Apologies if this is not the case but @KarenLopez comment about bots seems itself a bit bot like 🤨
Paul’s music is of course worthy of the many thousands of adoring fans he has 🙏
Good tip to refer to God in the title if not the music to pull in extra audience if these metrics move you.
His original title was "Running On Empty". I didn't want it to be confused with the Jackson Browne song, so I just modified it a little. I agree it's always a good idea to refer to God. I try to do that every day.
That could be another reason you got special attention. I wonder is “Sympathy for the Devil” also had extra attention by invoking the Dark Prince.
