Unsalted - free preset pack for ButterSynth by Recollection

edited September 2023 in General App Discussion

Edit: This pack is now included in Buttersynth under Recollection

ButterSynth has become my go to synth since it came out.

There’s loads of amazing presets contributed by @dendy @jakoB_haQ @RedSkyLullaby etc. that show what ButterSynth is capable of, taking advantage of its deep modulation options and built in effects.

But one thing I needed was some more basic presets to act as starting points to build more complex patches.

So I made Unsalted - a modest pack of 23 presets, with Basses, Keys, Plucks and Pads. Nothing groundbreaking, that’s the point, but I did try to give each a small twist 😉

Hopefully they’ll be useful to you.

Edit: you can install the whole lot in one go by opening the files app and copying the zip file to:

On My iPhone / ButterSynth / User / presets / synth /

If you then open it, it should create a folder called Unsalted and you’re good to go 👍

Yes, I also made a giant preset set with 1024 presets!
    All free for you use!

    Have fun.

EDIT: Ah, it got added 😅🤗
    Great, thanks!

I hit return and posted it before I’d attached the file 🤦🏻‍♂️

I download and extracted the ZIP file, then tapped a preset which correctly opens ButterSynth - which immediately crashes.

I then tried to unzip within the ButterSynth User folder, below "presets" and this worked better - but I needed to touch each and any preset to get it imported into ButterSynth.
Probably, there is a better way to import.

Anyways, I esp. like Orchestra, String Pad and Wavy Keys!
    Thanks 🤗

If you use the files app, you can unzip the whole zip file straight into:

    On My iPhone / ButterSynth / User / presets / synth /

This should create a folder called Unsalted.

I’ll put this in the first post…

  • Thank you!

Thanks Greg ... Buttersynth is quickly becoming one of my gotos as well. For me it's up there with Tera Pro, Factory and a couple of others which just keep on giving, and seem to have the endless potential to surprise me.

Yep Tera Pro is in my list as well.

I just find BS so quick to dial in the sounds I want, especially on iPhone where I’m always messing around. Love the choice of wavetables and how easy it is to modulate wavetable position etc.

  • Thank you Greg 👍

BS is very immediate. Loving the "Harmonics", "Phase Mod" and "Wavefold" setting for Wavetables, and yes the extensive modulation options inc the highly flexible Curve Envelopes, and the Arpeggiator with its added flexibility etc etc ...

Have you explored the "Retrig" options in the LFOs and Curve Envs? Never seen some of those options before!

  • Cool! Thanks!

ButterSynth is awesome, though I always wondered why it didn’t come with any “factory” presets. The “artist presets” are cool and all, but they’re not really good starting points to create sounds of your own.

  • Hey these are great, thank you for sharing!

Exactly this! Most of the music I listen to and make is based on very simple patches.

Though saying that, I have based an entire song recently round one of @dendy ’s patches 😅

i am aware of this problem - i tend to throw away too simplistic patches, i am always like "common, this is too boring and simple/generic"... but sometimes probably this simple stuff is exactly what people want as starting point, as @Edward_Alexander mentioned... next time will fight myself to keep in bank also simple stuff :-)

    👍 cool

I need to play more with the curve envs as I’ve barely used that bit. I’ve used the lfo’s a lot but not all the retrig options. Will have a play around.

  • Great patches at @gregsmith. Just my cup of tea.

Love your basic but not so basic patches! ;) Agree, ButterSynth really needs those starting points. Downloaded, everything works perfectly, my favorite ones are; Marimba, Nylon Pluck, String Pad, Glock, Muted 303.

Magic happens when you start to add an internal ButterSynth fx. Lots of inspiration. Thank you for sharing, I appreciate it a lot. 🤩

What are your presets called, what categories? I’m not seeing one with 1024 presets named tja?? Are they factory?

Thanks for sharing @gregsmith! I was just thinking earlier it would be useful to have some starter presets. Also, the first preset I made in ButterSynth I called “unsalted” hah

  • Digging these patches!
