The Silent Pool
I’ve had the main piano theme for this hanging about in my head for a while but couldn’t figure out what to do with it. Eventually this surfaced.
Ravenscroft 275 played by me via ChordJam.
SWAM Viola, Cello and Oboe + Speldosa played by me via GeoShred.
Backing produced by 3 * World Piano set to drone mode + 5 * Rozeta Bassline, each playing a Speldosa through multiple effects.

Moody. Goody.
Very nice, I find it relaxing. Love what you Tony can do with geoshred. I personally suck with geoshred. But you play it like you own it
Delicate and meditative, superbly played and orchestrated, with a very ‘live’ feel. I can’t imagine capturing the subtleties of this through midi programming/conventional sequencing. You are the master of Geoshred.
Really good one. You're getting better and better. Very inspiring. Do you know this one?
Thanks @LinearLineman , @Jmd8928 , @Svetlovska and @Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr 🙏
I’m guess it felt live Irena because it is sort of live 🤨, all the parts other than the main theme on the Viola were improvised over the drone backing track. I don’t really do midi… always seems too hard.
Thanks for the link Wrlds, new to me but I enjoyed it. Similar instrumentation to begin with which was a bit spooky. My Silent Pool is the one near Guildford in Surrey. I lived in the area for a short period and visited it a couple of times.
@GeoTony : I know what you mean re midi! Lacking the skill to play stuff live, I have to use it, but only in the simplest, ‘tape recorder’ sort of way, using Atom clips to capture my pitch quantised noodlings in case lightning happens to need a bottle.
This is really beautiful. I love the arrangement of the cello and oboe. Very well done.
That’s taken me off to a rather pleasant space for a few minutes. Lovely!
Well this is just beautiful.
The manner in which it is ruminative without being brooding brings to mind certain pastoral pieces by English masters like Ralph Vaughan Williams and my beloved Benjamin Britten.
Did I mention that I love it?🙂
I’m glad you enjoyed it @Paulieworld , @bygjohn and @rottencat 👍
I’m also very fond of the English composers of that period. As well as RVW and BB there’s Elgar, Holst, Delius, Finzi (listen to Eclogue if you haven’t heard it), Howells etc. Also William Walton (a local lad to where I live) especially his violin concerto.
Very nice!
Nice, dreamy, relaxing vibe. I can almost hear distant birdsong. Lovely arrangement too!
Very enjoyable piece, @GeoTony. Liked the rolled piano chords.
Reading the thread title on my phone I thought it said “The Silent Poo!”
Would definitely work well for that title too.
Ha, you noticed the bum notes as well @michael_m 😊
