Great songwriter. Never really the guy up front with The Band, but they wouldn’t have been the same without him.
True. He said there was no way he’d sing lead when three of the other guys were such amazing vocalists. He wrote or co-wrote pretty much everything they did and he played guitar like no one else. His solo albums, after The Band, are masterful.
