AUM: sample rate bug or stupid?

When I want to change the SR to 44 it gives me a strange pop-up window and when I go back to the SR settings it shows the 44 as chosen but in the main settings it still shows the 48 (also it is marked as “current sample rate”). I tried it with nothing connected and with my Rode NT-USB mini connected. Same story. What’s wrong?

Comments

  • This may mean that some other app or process has already set the sample rate and now "owns" it. Try force quitting all apps, then start AUM first and try again. If that doesn't work, then force-quit all apps, power off your device, power it on, then start AUM and try to set the sample rate.

If that doesn't work then your device may be one that is locked to 48kHz. If that's the case you can only change the sample rate via an external interface that is able to set it's own sample rate. What device and OS version do you have?

fwiw, if your device is locked to 48kHz, I believe you'll find it's not just AUM that can't change it. Other hosts such as AudioBus should have the same problem.

    Have you tried re-booting?

Also, try turning off Siri. Siri sometimes limits buffer size changes. Maybe it influences sample rate changes in some cases.

I tried it with BM3 as well and it’s the same issue. I cannot switch away from the 48. :(
I have an iPad Air 4, nothing else is on there that could affect this. I switched Siri on and off and also rebooted the iPad itself. Still the same issue.

Thank you, as mentioned above, I tried that but to no avail.

Your device only natively supports 48k. If you want to work at other sample rates, you will need to use an audio interface.

Ahhh, thank you! So I either bring my small setup (the Rode NT USB mini) and live with the 48 or carry my audio interface and control it?

Is there a reason you don’t want to work at 48k?
