Rather tell me what is the closest iOS counterpart for Novation Circuit. Great video, inspiring to listen. 🤓
hard to answer .. synth engine in both Circuit OG and Circuit Track is same like in Ultranova/Mininova synths (just a bit stripped down, Ultranova/Mininova have more features, more LFO, some speciifc things like unison, nore FX).
There is no special magic in that synth engine - just 2 oscillators + noise oscilalro + ringmod, 3 envelopes, 2 lfos and some FXs .. good filter with great sounding drive stage .. IT's not complex synth, relatively easy to use (but you need go to website components.novation.com to be able to edit all synth parameters, from the box you can tweak just 8 macro knobs)
In general int's wavetable synth so any good iOS wavetable synth should be able to go relatively close - Butter Synth, Obsidian in NS2, Synthmaster2 comes to my mind. This is more about sound design skills than about particular synth. Author of this pack has my huge respect, really great sound design job.
Edit: Oh i remember, Novation/Ampify GROOVEBOX have few synths inside which remembers me the character of this synth engine. It's not same engine, but that character is there. Only problem is it is not AUv3 so you need to export as wav and use it in sampler or in audio tracks.
Anyway - will challenge myself and will try to make some of this kind of patches in my new Obsidian patch bank on which i am working right now

There is some spice in Circuit sound, I admit. It’s the simple synth on the paper and I agree with you it’s probably more because of the great sound design than the synth itself.

I’ve had several Nova’s over the years, rack and desktop and owned a Tracks. They all sound similar. Folks that think Tracks sounds thin doesn’t know how to program them. Tracks has a very nice synth engine.

Ok, torally honestly, i like old Supernova/Nova engine more than this new Ultranova/Mininova/Circuit one , but also this new isn’t bad. It’s just thar i like some details of old (S)Nova engine a bit more.
This pack surprised me, though. Some seriously best sounds i ever heard from this engine. Dude is sound magician.

Great find @dendy . The Circuit is my most limited Groovebox by a mile but also my most used.
Yah that does sound great and I do love the Circuit. I don't use mine much though as patch management and tweaking was very awkward. There was an iOS app for a brief blip that someone made which was great but I seem to recall it got a cease and desist from Novation or something, and there was some weird IAP rebuy issue or something something. Wish I could just plug it into my iPad for that stuff, sigh, as I just dont have any comfortable PC and Circuit workspaces. Shame, as I had a ton of fun with it for a bit.
