I had an urge to try something a bit different, so I found an acapella (or a capella, if you prefer) on Looperman and built something around it. This features the lyrics and vocals of a singer/songwriter that goes by the name 'djoctx'.

you have a good voice.
Thank you, but I can’t take credit for that. The vocals are from a sample that I found on Looperman. It was just her solo voice without any accompaniment. I just built a song around it. Thanks for listening!
This was good man, enjoyed. Not currently capable of minute criticism, just had playing in background, entirely credible piece of music.
Edit: listened again. I think it’s the dynamics that hooked me, and the beat. Love the fx variation on your beat.
I don't sing anymore, but I just had a desire to try something with some vocals. Most of the content on Looperman seems to be rap, so this one really stood out to me. I just thought she had a lovely voice. I have a few more of these that I might try in the future. Thanks for listening!
This must have been so refreshing to do - it’s never even occurred to me to try using a resource like Looperman - didn’t know such things existed! What was the process? Anyway, sounds great, enjoyed your production and the song!
This sounds good; so you first got the vocal and then you had to work out your music around it?
(btw, I'm still working on your Joy and Sorrow piece when I can - just trying to make it sound right)
It was a lot of fun, and something different. Since you sing, (quite well I might add), it probably never really occurred to you to go searching for something you already have! I’ll describe the process in my response to the last post. It’s really quite simple. Thanks for listening!
That’s right. I found it on Looperman and thought it sounded nice. Most of their content indicates a bpm value and, in some cases, the key it’s in. They usually get the bpm right, the key… not so much. I just downloaded it and dropped it on track one, set the bpm, and tried different keys until I found something that sounded right. The original sample had two verses, but I trimmed it down to one to keep it between 3 and 4 minutes. Then I just started trying things until something came together. It takes a little time, but I thoroughly enjoy the process. I like to sit outside on my patio on a nice day, and just get into it. It’s very relaxing. I highly recommend it!
I’m looking forward to hearing what you come up with! Don’t overthink it. Your first idea is usually the best. I have spent hours tweaking things, only to go back to my original thought. Just don’t delete anything! You can always just mute tracks while you’re exploring other ideas. Happy music-making!
generally good advice; but that's me. Actually what I've been enjoying about this, using Emvoice, is how words themselves can change musical meaning by just shortening or lengthening a syllable. Stuff like that. I've been also been multitasking with other projects slowing me down. It's coming along though.
It’s a multitasking world. No rush. Have a good one, mate.
Not musically my cup of hot brown steaming stuff but interesting to know the process and an impressive end result.
