Drambo delay

edited August 2023 in Patch Sharing

Was about to buy mantis but then I thought why the hell to spend if its possible to build my own one. So I did. Its drambo instrument rack preset, just to share with you. Play around with the filters, shaper, feedback.. Can do anything from super dirty to clean, degrading dub feedbacks etc. Im about to delete all other delays except timeless3

The only thing lacking is tap tempo..any ideas from drambo ninjas? @Gravitas ?

    Well done.
There’s a certain satisfaction when one has built
something yourself rather than just getting another app.

    Tap tempo?
I haven’t thought of that one as I always set the time before hand.
    That’s an interesting one.
I’ve just finished a one note Arp thingy mentioned in another thread so bear with me.

...and Other Desert Cities, of course ;)

Thanks for the share! Will be the first 3rd-party patch I load into Drambo.

  • I love Drambo but I think it’s still highly worth it to have an app that does specific things for specific jobs. And Mantis isn’t going to sound exactly like the one in Drambo or behave the same. Each app has its own distinct differences. Props to you for building it though! Sometimes you just wanna pull up a cool app with a cool UI lol

  • Thank you! The resonance and shaper amount can get unruly with just a small amount. Definitely use with a limiter.

  • Ah! Nice! Thanks for sharing this.

  • Awesome. Thanks for sharing 😊

Thats a fun delay, good work. Why didn’t you use a processor rack though?
Anyway you should upload it to patchstorage, maybe as a playable .project instead of a zipped .module (people can always save the module if they want)

There is a mechanical limiting mechanizm underhood connected with feedback but yes, with shaper and rez you can go wild. You can make a bassline drone to follow input sound with hp filter rez for example. I didnt put limiter inside because I dont like compressed sound, the shaper does clip anyway, but you can always put one afterwards like other fx.

The patch is quite simple anyway and yes of course its not an emulation like mantis or bbd/tape but for me it has quite enough in terms of dirt and experimental stuff.

Tried hard to think how to connect a button to delay time but no luck. This is for higher iq levels :)

UI of plugins agree, much more inspiring than plain tiles like this but... the usability of drambo controls/interface - I dont see any competition so far, and you dont have to open plugin window.

Ok, prob will do that. Processor rack is actually the same but without built in midi to cv (less connections), its just I used to save all created units in instrument rack folder so they are all in one place.

  • I was thinking about Tap tempo on the train today.
I was thinking that what you could do is run the Delay you’ve designed
as dRambo within dRambo and disconnect/switch off the Host Sync in the auv3
and set the Delayin the auv3 to 1 beat synced to Host and then use an
external switch mapped to Tempo in the dRambo auv3.
It wouldn’t be precisely a Tap tempo but it would come close.
I’m going to give some further thought, bear with me.

  • Outside of the box you are thinking. But its already a bit intense on cpu..

    Inevitably.
    Surprised I am not.
