An exercise in restraint

Best use headphones (or good speakers) as there’s some low level detail here that’s easy to miss.

First piece made with the Meng Qi Wingie 2 (new toy!) in conjunction with the DecadeBridge Cadence.

Thanks to Hainbach for giving me the idea for using the Wingie 2, @Svetlovska for getting me to the brink of purchasing it, and Ice Locus for finally tipping me over the edge! 🤣

I used a mixer to get the levels right, with the Wingie 2 in the effects loop. This is just Cadence through the Wingie 2, no other instruments.

I piped the output into my iPad and used the AUM mid-side balance node to bring the sides in a little, then put it through Blackhole on the default setting to add a little space - that’s the only effect.

There is some minor tweaking of levels and controls, but not a huge amount - hence the title. It’s mostly just the two instruments doing their thing.

Video done with VS and LumaFusion on my iPad.

Thanks for listening, very much appreciated!

  • Glad you made the jump to WingPingiedom, it was clearly worth it. Now, about that Rumble of Ancient Times… ;)

  • Listening with headphones - sounds really good!

It’s an interesting little gadget, isn’t it, this Wingie thing…

Always down for some nicely done visuals in VS!

  • It felt like being in the middle of a wheat field, bathed by a pale early morning light, watching the wind drawing crazy patterns at the surface of the field. For a while I thought I was listening to a new @rottencat track, yeah, it sounds that good !

Thanks for checking this out. The Wingie has hidden depths, I think.

Thank you, and it’s wonderful to be mentioned in the same breath as Eno. I love that album.
