Switching windows in AUM?

  • Is there a show plugin option, in the channel settings, to map a controller or controller app via midi ?

Still learning, is there any way to quickly switch between plugin windows i have overlooked?

You can always have multiple ones open at once to get over that hurdle. Also tapping the very top or very bottom makes the app you touch the prominent one in the foreground. Which makes it easy to switch quickly between apps you have open.

Long press on a part of a background window would be cool!

    Or surface builder.

Would be cool if you could drag and drop midi.

Specify in aum which could be made be drag and drop.

    Probably just show plugin.

Then drag and drop from surface builder type app.

    To the au windows.

Be forewarned that the ui of some AUs increases their CPU use pretty significantly.

Iv mapped to a controller. It would be to launch per track or combos.

It should work with surface builder or loopy, if a button sends cc. You could make a launcher bar at side or bottom of screen but dev might make own as an app.

Thats just for app switching and you can drag and drop data from a button to a window.

Just so you dont have to set cc number when loading a different au.

Or app that maps. Tap to launch. Side to dis-engage. Up to solo. Down to mute.

    I think.

You can do this with a Surface Builder preset that I created for AUM, if you don't mind doing it on-screen. It comes with a few buttons but you will have to map it to the slots in your project, and create additional buttons if you need them. It's available on Patchstorage here if you want to look into it:

Feel free to hit me up if you have questions.

The show/hide is great, because you can also create a hide/show all, then target multiple auv3.

But ideally AUM would simply have multiple spaces with tab like buttons.

Also having a mode where the full AUM mixer is scaled down to the bottom half of the screen.
Or a compact view without faders where the fader become a dial.

Especially useful for bigger screens. Then you can have a dedicated space for floating windows and still have quick access to all the reasons that make the aum mixer great,

Also i see no reason why tapping on a loaded auv3

thank you for the project. I didn’t find out yet how it works, but I’m sure it is easy.

Good concept, and good question from the OP. Many times I need to switch between windows, this will be very useful.

  • You can double-tap the background to temporarily hide all plugin windows, and then you just tap the plugin node for the one you want to open again. And yes, you can show plugin window via MIDI control.

I have some ideas for the future regarding tabs, and tiled (non-floating) windows, etc.

Yea I was going to mention that… you can open an app via midi.

  • great - that’s a good solution also. I simply wasn’t aware of this (double-tap, and MIDI control). My bad for not reading the manual. However, a bit of a surprise, after watching hundrets of videos. Surely these features were displayed in front of my eyes many times already.

Tabs is a brilliant idea. Or a side-bar (top/right/down/left, defined in settings) that closes the current window and opens the selected one. Maybe tabs is the best solution.

Many thanks to all, this is great.
