A Walk in the Countryside

A quick improvisation using 2 samples in Decent Sampler: Crafter 6 string guitar (through FAC Alteza) and Lewis Pyle Violin. A tribute to the anniversary of the passing of Eric Bouillette (who was also a superb violinist as well as a guitarist).

Thank you @Paulieworld - I never thought of using Decent Sampler for a whole track before but I was very impressed with it.

  • Gorgeous…I am intrigued by how you made this - the instrumentation is so realistic. I’ve vaguely heard of Decent Sampler…wow, tremendous stuff

Thanks @BillS . I just loaded up Crafter 6 string guitar and the Lewis Pyle Violin onto 2 tracks in Logic Pro and added FAC Alteza to the guitar track. Then I improvised the guitar part in sections, adding improvised violin parts over the top for each section. There are no addition fx on the violin track or any additional expression controls (it is a lovely sample). It only took a couple of hours, including the video! It all just came together.

  • @AlterEgo_UK one of the benefits of listening to other’s compositions rather than simply posting your own is exactly this - it’s possible to pick up ideas that could inspire your own songwriting. Downloaded Decent Sampler and a couple of free libraries from Pianobook, and I’m hearing quality that could lead to new ideas and songs - wonderful stuff.

I use sample libraries extensively in my desktop set up but have never considered it for iOS until I heard your song last night, so thank you! I’m particularly interested in real instruments - any suggestions for libraries that work with Decent Sampler - paid or free - gratefully received. Cheers

  • Beautiful track and video. Well done

  • Thank you very much @jdp00 and @GeoTony
@BillS - I don't use samples very much as a rule so I don't really have any recommendations other than these 2 currently. The Pianobook site does have quite a large selection of real instrument samples though!
