Save Loop to Browser (or just basic exporting of loops)

edited August 2023 in Logic Pro

How can I save a new audio or MIDI file to the Loop Browser? The sequencer lets you do it, just can’t find the button for saving the other loops types.

Comments

  • Also, exporting any type of audio loop to files or otherwise? How can I get those loops out without exporting the whole project?

  • Nobody??? How are you exporting sample, loops, or parts of projects from Logic???

  • Are you wanting to save your own loops to the loop browser? Also for exporting audio loops where are you wanting to export? The files app?

  • Currently, it seems the only way to export from Logic is to export the entire project timeline either as a bounced track or as stems. I am looking for a way to do any of the following alternatives:

    1. Save a single loop from the loop view to the file browser or, preferably, to the built in loop browser in logic
    2. Save a section of a track (not the whole thing) to the loop browser or to the file browser
    3. Using a long recorded take (like a 3 minute improvisation), slice up the audio of that one take and export it to either the file browser or to the loop browser as multiple audio files.

I don’t like that the preferred workflow based on what I’ve seen in the documentation is to save an entire project and cut it up after saving. Does that make sense?

Gotcha. I’ll take a dive in after dinner and see if I can figure something out.

For #3, are you wanting to chop up the audio in logic and then export those?

  • You’re diving in after dinner? Remember, people who SWAM too soon after eating often end up in tragic ambience

  • @HotStrange yes, for #3 I’d love to be able to use the scissors tool in Logic to cut up individual phrases and batch save them as new loops.

Hmm sounds interesting. I may try it anyway 😂

Cool. Never got a chance to try, ended up having a leak in the shower that had to be dealt with but will still try it later tonight and report back.

  • Cool, thanks for checking back in. Honestly if there was just a simple export button in the loops view or in the edit region view I’d be fine… wondering if a workaround needs to be something with an Auv3…

I was f able to see anything to do what you’re wanting right off hand. Maybe someone who’s used it a lot more can chime in, but I couldn’t find anything unfortunately

  • So far you’re the only one that’s been interested in looking into it! I was hoping I could use the portability of the ipad to fly through a bunch of new loops processed through logic. Looks like I’d need to use Koala or Loopy Pro to record loops first and then bring them in. Really annoying that there’s no export button in logic.

  • Hate to bump my own thread but this is really driving me nuts. Has anyone figured out a good export workaround yet?
