Clock Sync iPolysix to BM2?
Is it possible to clock Sync iPolysix to BM 2? I want to record what I programmed in the IPolysix Sequencer in BM 2 so that I can add overdubs afterwards. But iPolysix seems to recieve only the notes i play on BM2s Keyboard, not the clock. And that makes it a Little difficult to get iPolysix's output in the correct Timing.

If you look in the appendix of the iPolysix manual (from within the app itself), it has a MIDI CC value for start/stop sequencer.
I believe you could send this CC from Beatmaker 2 at the beginning of a measure in order to sync up the iPolysix sequencer for recording.
And how can I do that? (Sorry, I don't really know that much about Midi...)
I don't have BM2 (yet), but assuming it can send Control Change messages through MIDI (like pitch bend, sustain pedal, etc.), you would need to send a Control change event to iPolysix, using the particular CC number listed in the manual for the sequencer playback control. Then you give the event a certain value to stop/start (Something like 0-63 for stop, 64-127 to start).
Sorry I can't be more specific in this case, but maybe someone with Beatmaker 2 can explain how to work with automation within the app?
You can just use the BM2 midi editor and send it to Poly6 and then back to BM2... Unless you HAVE to use the Korg step sequencer. Then you can attempt to edit messages.. THis way is much easier and configurable.
That seems to be a better Way...thanks @Ryan
rant
Why on earth do these manufacturers, who really ought to know better since they were there at the start, use CC messages for transport control, when the MIDI spec has from day one had specific hi priority single byte Real Time messages for this purpose? Do the names Start, Stop, Continue mean nothing? Song Position Pointer? This was all thought out and implemented - well - 30 years ago. Sequencers syncing up to each other was assumed to work and did.

i was quite disappointed to find iPolySix and iElectribe weren't syncing up automatically.
also that there doesn't seem to be any shared protocol for syncing two apps (i'm fine if the latency needs to increase to keep audio sync)... eg Beatmaker triggering a couple of hihats from iElectribe over MIDI is completely out of time.
maybe eventually there'll be a standard.
is this something that could be incorporated into the AudioBus signal path?
Midi Bridge is awesome for keeping a few/some/all apps in sync - dependent on your willingness to learn more about MB and Core/Virtual MIDI for iOS. (There is a work around for most apps that support Audiobus)
MIDI Real Time messages are the official shared protocol defined by the MMA 30 years ago. Somehow the iOS dev community has either forgotten, ignored, or never researched this topic. A few exceptions, but most of my sequencers do not do it right or at all in some cases. It is essential to get it right if you want to control or respond to external hardware, which is required as part of the MIDI labelling agreement to stick to the MMA spec. iOS has gotten away with not doing that so far because the MMA is concerned with what goes over a physical cable connecting devices that claim to implement MIDI. Inside an iThing is not a physical cable. Hence chaos has ensued.
