AUM - Multi Bus AU Instances - Not working! (for me) [Solved]

edited August 2023 in General App Discussion

If someone can help with this issue I'd appreciate it.
I'm not sure when this started and if it's in an AUM update they stopped or if I'm simply doing something wrong. There's quite a few plugins where you can use a copy of itself instead of adding a new instance but for me - it doesn't work. Why?
I'm getting insecure and ask myself if they'd ever worked but I'm pretty sure they have. 😬 None of the ones showed in the picture works.

  • OK, tentatively, because I am no expert on this, the multi-bus thing is just ins and outs to the one instance, and what the app in question does with those signals varies from app to app. So I think you have a misconception about what they do.

For example, RoughRider3 uses the extra inputs as side chain inputs, it doesn’t compress them like it does with the main input. Not sure how the MoogerFooger plugins use them (haven’t investigated that with them so far), but I would suspect side chain inputs again.

If you want to feed multiple audio inputs into one instance for identical processing, you need to use mix buses in AUM.

  • I got multi-bus side-chains working with some apps but there's no way to select to use side-chain input in the Moog apps, for the filter I'd use it on a drone while the envelope is triggered by the side-chain input as one example.

In FF and Bleass apps I had to explicitly enable the use of Side-Chain / External Input within the plug-in once it was loaded as a multi-bus instance.

Will try with some other hosts and check if it's a plug-in issue which I suspect it is.

  • Only have the Eq out of those apps but they all say 2 in 1 out so would assume they’re all only side chaining and not producing any sound. Whatever you’ve routed to your “clean” channel is effecting the sound of those apps. In the Eq you should see the node jumping with the sound on clean channel. In the moogs you can use it to control parameters.

Alright, yeah I have totally missed this and I was pretty sure I have used some plugin the way I was suggesting. I must have dreamt it.😊 Thank you for your input gentlemen I understand now. If you get something going beside side chain Samu, let us know. I will tag this as solved till then.

Yeah, I think I get it now, thank you 😊

    For AUv3 multi-out instances?

For the Mooggerfogers AUv3's I can't get the side-chain functionality to work with any of them?!
(Feels like it's not fully implemented as there's no way in the plug-in to select to use the side-chain input when a multi-instance is loaded?!).

In Drambo AUv3 (mFX) I can get the second side-chain channel to work as an extra input which can be used for sampling among other things when loaded as an effect.

For all the FF plug-ins (Except Twin 3) side-chain works when enabling the external input in the plug-in.
TB & BLEASS Stuff also work as expected.

As I've been on an app-cleaning spree I don't have too many additional apps to test with.

Hope you'll somehow get it to work as well.
    Cheers!
