Mela 2 not available after migration to new IPad

I love Mela 1 and 2 and have them both on my Iphone and my old Ipad air.
Now I got a new Ipad Pro and used the Ios migration to set it up. This worked for Mela 1 but unfortunately not for Mela 2. (the App Icon shows up, but when I click it it says the app is not available in the appstore). I checked the purchased list on the new Ipad and it contains Mela 1 but not Mela 2, which is consistent but odd because obviously I do own Mela 2.
So I checked the purchase list on my Iphone and now it gets confusing: I couldn‘t find any Version of Mela here, though both apps are installed and work fine…
Now I‘m lost :( Anything I can do to get Mela 2 on my new Ipad?

    @Nikolozi

    @Gavinski thanks for tagging me.

    The short version is that due to technical limitations, App Store Connect didn't let me migrate Mela 2 from my old Apple developer account to the new one. But I'm happy to provide any Mela 2 user wth a Mela 3 promo code. @schulzki I will DM you a promo code.

    I explained the full story on this page: https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/55440/mela-4-just-dropped/p6 and here I have pasted it:

    OK, a quick story time. Up until last year, I was operating my business as a company entity. But the fees associated with running a company, like accounting services, various insurances, company registration fees etc, were an adding to be a lot of money. Additionally, I had to do all sorts of reporting annually and quarterly. It was taken up a lot of time too.

    I decided to switch back to a solo developer business structure. The one issue with that was Apple couldn’t convert my company developer account into a solo developer one. This meant I needed to create a new developer account and then transfer the apps from the company’s account to the solo one. The issue with that was that certain apps can’t be transferred due to technical limitations (i.e. if an app is using certain APIs/ Frameworks). I was able to transfer all my synth apps except for Mela 1 and 2. That meant I couldn’t offer upgrade pricing via bundle to the existing Mela users. Like I had done for using going from v1 to v2.

    In order not to make Mela users feel like they were being taken advantage of I offered Mela 3 at an intro price that would have been equivalent to the bundle upgrade price, the price was $5. That's why Mela 3 was so cheap at launch. Additionally, I made Mela 1 and Mela 2 free to anyone who was interested in testing them out knowing that I would have had to remove them from the App Store at the end of the financial year (which is June 30 for Australia).

    Now removing them didn't mean owners of Mela 1 and 2 couldn't access them. They could re-download it anytime as long as the company's Apple developer account wasn't expired. The account expired in March which is why you can no longer download Mela 2 from your purchases list. Interestingly, at some point, Apple lifted some technical limitations for transferring apps, and Mela 1 qualified for a transfer, and I was able to transfer it to my solo developer account. But Mela 2 didn't qualify. All this text to explain why Mela 1 is downloadable and Mela 2 is not. But I'm happy to provide any Mela 2 user with a Mela 3 promo code, to get around this limitation.

  • Woha that‘s supercool! (not the technical problems, but the promo code! 😀)
    I am really excited, thank you so much! Also thanks for the explanation.
    Mela is a fantastic, unique sounding synth, I am happy I can enjoy it on my new IPad now 😊

    You're welcome :)
    Be sure to tag me next time you have a question or experience any issues with Mela, otherwise, I may not see it, as I don't check the forum regularly.

  • @Nikolozi Ooh, can i get a code? Honestly never tried Mela, but it looks fun, how you can switch things around. Just being honest. Understand if im out of line

    Yep, you can have a Mela 3 code, check your DM.

  • I wish all the melas were kept just for classics sake. But alas I can understand. Maybe make all the colors available, perhaps they are...

    Mela 3 features and UI is a superset of Mela 2. And Mela 3 has all 3 colour schemes: 1-3.

  • I love Mela1-3 because of the most intuitive UI design I ever encountered. Especially positioning of those four windows and their operability. @Nikolozi will not make that classic go away, I’m pretty much sure. 🤩

    Thank you 🙏🧡. I was very satisfied with that design because in my head, it made sense. As in, that's how I was visualising and compartmentalising mentally different synth components and how they interacted with each other.

    I hope to reach that level of simplicity with Mela 4. It has way more things going on, so it's a bit challenging, but let's see how it goes :)

  • Hi, i found this thread after not being able to install Mela 2 in my new iOS device.

    Is it still possible to get a code? My iCloud/App Store account use the same email as inside to create this account.

    Thanks

  • I’ve got all versions of Mela and don’t need a code, but just wanted to say a massive hats off to @Nikolozi for his kindness to the users who asked for a code! What a developer!

  • As a Mela 2 user, I'd love a code too, since it lives its last life on my iPad. Just one mishap away from oblivion.
