A Loss (experimental ambient)

New track I just released. More experimental and low key this time. All made in Wotja with various different AU instruments and effects. Kinda somber but hope you guys enjoy, lemme know what you think :)

  • That's really nice! :) I'm curious to see a screenshot of your Wotja setup. :) That's the kind of Generative Ambient I'm interested in producing, with nice evolving textures, and a subdued vibe. :)

Thanks my friend  tbh I don’t have the mix anymore 😆 a lot of the time with the more experimental recordings (noise, ambient, etc) I tend to have A LOT going at once and I’ll delete it after I get a suitable recording or else I’ll keep diving in and tinkering with it and never releasing anything and also pushing it beyond what I had intended and liked about it in the first place lol

I know there were 2 organs in use (HaNon, Red Animal), Mela 4, either Slammer or Ting for the percussion in the background. And heavy use of reverb. Alteza, TB Reverb, Kymatica’s Space, and Ab Vortex. I think there may have been a couple other synths and effects happening but I’m not really sure.

As far as everything else, I generated some in Wotja and created a couple templates from scratch as well so it was a mix of generative and hand made lol. Then recorded natively in the app, uploaded to Wavebox to normalize and do some light mastering, and then uploaded :)

  • Yes mate, this is beautiful!! Xx

  • Very, very cool. Sombre is good! :) I tried Wotja years ago, but could never get my head round it. This almost makes me want to have another try. Thanks for sharing :)

Much appreciated. I’ve had the free version on my iPad since probably 2020/21 but didn’t get the paid version and dive in until a few months back. It’s a lot of fun and capable of some cool stuff once you learn the basics. I still don’t know much beyond that but AU hosting takes it to another level.

  • Enjoyed this and your other track too

  • Cool track HotStrange . . . 🤐😁

  • Soothing...puts my head in a nice space.

  • Beautiful. I don’t find it sombre, quite the opposite, appeasing and soothing light.

Oh right on! It felt somber to me so I’m glad someone else wa shake to have a different take away lol :)

Wow thank you. I’m glad to see different people are reacting differently. That’s a good sign, imo lol. Thanks for checking it out @JanKun! Always enjoy your stuff

  • Very cool this one, but short

Pinecorn has it as well, followed. You have only 3 tunes on SC?

  • This illustration will explain my experience listening to your piece. I love this kind of theme. 🤩

Thanks, followed you back! I was intentionally aiming for a shorter song this time around. But my songs do average around 5-7 mins usually.

As of right now those are the only 3, but I have a full album that’s nearly done and should hopefully be out by the end of September.

Oh man I love that! I’m a big fan of high fantasy and adventure novels/films so definitely a compliment for me 🤩 thanks 🙏

  • Wotja! So cool to hear somebody giving it some love. I bought it a few years ago, but there it sits on screen one of my iPad. I will fire it up this weekend and give it another try. You should send this to David Lynch!

Thanks Paulie! Funny you say that, Lynch is probably the person that’s inspired me the most artistically through my life. Eraserhead was pretty pivotal for me as a 16 year old.

  • For me, I get the image of a huge derelict spaceship drifting in the cold vastness of space. Nice work @HotStrange

  • Somber but not dark 👌
I keep reading about Wotja but there’s very little music posted that appears to use it so it’s nice to hear what it can do.

And yeah it’s strange. A lot of people seem to like it but there’s very few musical demos about it. FWIW I think it’s really great and a lot of fun. Being able to load up your favorite AU instruments and effects and having Wotja do its magic is a lot of fun. Then you can start to tweak your project like I did so you can really make it your own.

  • For me, there’s a deep sadness here. Very impressive.

Much appreciate John 🤝 I originally made it during a pretty sad time so I guess it did get reflected there. I’ve just been sitting on it for a few months and finally finished it.
