jAmp 8100 Guitar Amp (Released)
jAmp 8100 represents a digital emulation of the Marshall Valvestate 8100 amplifier, which stood out as one of the most impressive-sounding amplifiers of the 90s. Numerous metal bands showcased this amplifier in their albums, with particularly notable appearances in the works of bands such as Death, Prong, and Static-X.
Features:
- Standalone, or as a AUv3 plugin in GarageBand, Logic Pro, or other DAW.
- Marshall Valvestate 8100 emulation
- Noise gate
- Ibanez Tube Screamer emulation
- Ten band equalizer
- Five band post amp equalizer
- Impulse response (IR) loader
- Integrated IRs by forward-audio.com and Valhallir.at
The free version allows you to test jAmp 8100 completely, but every minute the amplifier will be silent for 3 seconds. To remove these limits there is a one time in-app purchase.
You need an audio interface to connect your instrument to your mobile device. Known audio interface brands are for instance Focusrite or iRig.
For iPad you might want to consider using a USB-C hub with power delivery to avoid draining your battery during your jam session, but this is optional.
For iPhone you will need to use an adapter that can
- connect via lightning port to your iPhone
- connect to your phone charger with USB
- connect to your audio interface with USB
If you have a Focusrite Scarlett 22 or similar you can use the lighting to USB 3 camera adapter for this which is easily available in the market.
Your iPhone cannot deliver enough power on its own to feed the audio interface, so this adapter with a connection to your phone charger is necessary.
If you don't have an audio interface, you can still use the AUv3 plugin in a DAW such as GarageBand or Logic Pro. Any (guitar) sound you have recorded can be fed through the jAmp 8100 audio unit to add solid state distortion or any of the other included effects.

Universal (Mac, iPhone and iPad). I tested it (full demo with silence interruptions) against Nembrini Hardball which might not be fair as Hardball is the awesomest😂 Also think Hardball was bought cheaper. Well, might be worth a try.
Sweet, can’t wait to try it!
Reading the app description, Was sold when I saw Prong mentioned lol
“You want the good life.. you break your back…
You snap your fingers.. you snap your neck…”
Oh the 90’s…
I haven’t tried Hardball, pretty good you say?
I love it and have pretty much abandoned TH-U and Rhino after I got it. I use it with Brusfri and some compressor (right now Korvpressor) and whatever fx needed for the song. Awesome!
It has a free trail version so I’m gonna give it a shot. I don’t use AMP sims as much because I don’t have my guitars anymore but it’s fun to run other things through them. Or even sampled guitars.
Haha love that song.
I used to own that amp back in the days. The combo 1x12 version. It sounded amazing but not louder than 4. After that the sound became really thin.
My buddy bought the same amp a year later and it had a different speaker and did not sound as good as mine.
Another proof the speakers matter a whole lot in metal guitar sound.
Hi,
this is Luca here. We've been notified about this product by some of our customers asking about the iOS version of our VS8100 plugin. Just touching base here to clarify that, despite the looks and the (pretty much) identical signal chain, we are not involved in the development of this product.
Best,
Luca
Woah weird. So someone made a clone of your app for iOS?
There are a lot of similarities, especially with the layout and signal chain. As example: having the Cab on/off switch on the amp front panel; the front-of-amp 10 band EQ followed by a post amp 5 band EQ. The cab loader layout is similar to our old one we had from the beginning, up to v1.1.1
They sound different. We acquire the original hardware of what we want to emulate and perform extensive comparisons between the hardware and the simulation. In the case of our suites, we also experiment with signal chains while designing the products.
As previously mentioned, we just wanted to clarify that we are not involved in the development of this iOS app.
Best,
Luca
Are you involved with developing something for us on iOS? I’d like to be clear on that..
Yes. We are (slowly) updating our framework to port some of our plugins to iOS. Hopefully we'll be able to start delivering something in 2024
Outstanding!! I’ll keep a watchful eye on your iOS development.
That sounds really awesome!
Sweet! Looking forward to it.
Back in the 90s the valvestate amps were ubiquitous and what you bought (or your parents bought for you) when what you really wanted was a JCM800/900. They did sound pretty good at bedroom/guitar shop volumes and were perfect for playing Enter Sandman (just add chorus pedal and wah) but why anyone would want to recreate those tones today for any reason besides nostalgia beats me!
To me was for love and preservation. I grew up playing with those Valvestates, so I have a very soft spot for these underdog amps.
