Ancient Apps and Dances (DS Stella Mandolin)

Using the Stella Mandolin sample in Decent Sampler this is a very short dance like piece played on GeoShred.
It reminded me of Ancient Airs and Dances (from 1917) by Ottorino Respighi which also nicely provides the title…

  • 1) Thank you for pointing me to Decent Sampler. :-)

    2) Charming piece of music! I wouldn't call it "ancient", though.

  • @geoTony, fun and playful track, the mandolin is perfect for it!

  • Very cute piece. I could not play that. I cannot play harmonies on the touch screen. I am good at guitar harmony, so I know where the notes are. It's just that the screen lacks tactile feedback and so I need to eyeball every note, and it's too difficult for me.

  • I’m very impressed with DS at the moment @ChrisLaarman , I’ve managed to get MPE (or what I know as MPE) working with GeoShred so I’m a happy bunny. For £0 I don’t think you can go wrong, assuming you have the disc space.
Cheers @azul3D_Apps , I think I’m weening myself off my 20 a day Piano Motifs habit at the moment 😊
I know what you mean @Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr . I have to look at the screen 99% of the time but I’ve played that much now that my brain seems to sort out the hand / eye coordination without any conscious effort on my part. It’s a strange feeling really 🤨

I’m also a big fan of DS. It takes up quite a bit of storage from all the PianoBook samples I’ve downloaded but considering I have all those amazing sounds for $0, paying in storage space is fine for me lol

Great track, btw. Definitely has that feeling of days of old.

  • I really enjoyed this. If that was your original composition, I like it even more. Very traditional and very well done. It reminded me of the Ceili bands I heard with my parents on our trip to Ireland in 1967. Grandpa would take us to his favorite pubs and there would always be a little band playing and a few people dancing. He would play his concertina. I think I’m gonna cry now.

  • Thanks @HotStrange and @Paulieworld . I think the sound immediately evokes the Irish connection Paul. I was thinking more of a sort of old dance pattern when I did it but if it creates happy memories then I’m happy 😊
