Dolphins on Lysergic Acid (Drambo live jam)

finally found my way to drambo :-) definitely need to pair it with some hw controller for more sophisticsted live performances but i am starting really like it !

  • Very, very good. Why is this all on one pattern?! Anyway, the song is magnificent, Drambo definitely sparks your imagination! 🤩

i have basically two methods of making music - “full track” with automations - for this approach i need traditional linear sequencer (NS2 still top for me for this use case) - Live-like clip launcher doesn’t work for me in this case.

Other method is live jam where i create pattern and then play with mutes and tweaking parameters .. until now i used this approach mostly with Elektron boxes.

First approach is more “work”, second is more “fun” :-)

Thinking about purchasing some HW controller for this purpose, probably novation control xl .. Control over track with just touchscreen is very limited for live performance, especially when it is something with faster BPM and more defined structure, not slow ambient/downtempo..

I was almost certain it was already an external controller in the play. But, hats down for finger taps! ;)

Gravitas uses those Novation controllers, which is a good indication that it is probably the best choice for Drambo.

  • Love that bass patch 😎

  • Cool! ‘Bout time you dived into Drambo!

I too eventually want to get a Launchcontrol XL for less screen touching (already have a Launchpad MK3) but you will discover that there’s not really any limitations in touching either way. One thing a hardware controller won’t be able to do, is the dynamic dragging and dropping you can do in the clip area, from cell to cell.

  • Well done! I like the bit crushed acid line a lot. Drambo rules!

  • Nice one! Yeah having a controller is useful. I always like to have a knob nearby with the master volume mapped to it. I frequently adjust master volume to keep it reasonable and avoid ear fatigue. I definitely also use the knobs and faders for sound sculpting and mixing too.

I love my Korg NanoKontrol2 for its portability. I recently started using an Akai midimix to get more knobs and a dedicated 9th master fader. I looked at the Novation but a youtuber said it emitted a lot of EMI and thats a deal breaker for my single coil pickup guitars

  • Very nice, compliments!

  • Cool! Shifting lanes can be rewarding :D as it's good to sometimes shake things up a bit.

yeah, new production enviroment === instant new inspiration

  • Excellent track especially given that you are new to the might D 👌

  • You end up with something nice there at the end. Kudos for the live jam.

  • thanks guys, glad you liked it
