  • Meh. Been a long time since anyone queued up overnight for just another bloody phone. Put the headphone ports back in everything, and I might be interested.

True all the BIG improvements happened years ago. But they still get a little better each time.

  • iPhone 15 updates / iPhone 15更新

The main production issues were with stacked CIS, panels, batteries (expanding when exposed to heat), and titanium frames.
The stacked CIS issue has been resolved by increasing production capacity, but it still affects about 10–15% of shipments of regular models.

Changing the supplier shipment ratio has resolved the panel issue.

The battery and frame issues have been resolved mainly by improving production yield.

The production challenges of titanium frames are high processing difficulty and significant design changes during development (canceling the virtual button design in 2Q23).

The titanium frame should contribute to weight reduction.
The Pro Max project was the last to kick off, so mass production schedule lags behind other models.

The Pro colors may be gray, white, black, and blue. The regular colors may be black, pink, yellow, blue, and green.

This is the only feature I’m looking forward to at this point. Current iPhone is so heavy!

Literally no one is expecting this phone to be lighter being that it’s supposedly bigger with a larger battery.

You can just give up using them altogether like me and just use an iPad mini as a phone…..

I usually only upgrade every few years. I had the 6s+, then the 10, now the 13 Pro Max. That said, I’m considering upgrading now as I’ve had lots of problems out of the 13. I’m hoping it’ll be usb-c. If the rumors are true

  • @AlmostAnonymous what software are you using with the mini to make and receive phone calls?

You can use pretty much anything that is a VoIP line. I use intermedia, but even google voice app will work.
There is a few caveats you might need to address:

    • not all banks, emails, websites, etc will allow use of a VoIP number for 2 factor auth
    • Speaker or headphones only
    • you’re gonna have to convert your apple friends to use your email for iMessage instead of your phone number
    • Your android friend’s text messages will not go to iMessage, nor can you text them from it. You will need to deal with this in the SMS service offered by the VoIP software you are using.

    Edit: cellular iPad kinda required

Cool. Thanks. Thought that might be the way. Have been thinking of that as a possibility for a while, but for some things I think it’s just easier to have a dumb phone for phone calls and sms and the tablet for everything else.
