new MIDI control app beta

Hello

I've made a new app, it's a 2D MIDI touch control with gesture recording and many other features.

It's currently yet in a quite early state (expect some bugs) but i'm very interested in your feedback about possible use cases / how this may fit in your live / production setup.

thanks!

Been on the beta and have only had time to test it once but I plan on testing it a lot more over the next week or so and will report back. Seems really cool and usable so far.

  • Looks very interesting so far. wasn’t quite able to wrap my head around it all yet, would be good to have a quick demo video as scenes and layers are a bit confusing. Will read the manual again too. overall, I can see me using this a lot

  • @HotStrange @scrape thanks! I've updated manual with a more details, will do some demo videos later

  • Thanks. I get it now. This is a very interesting and exciting app. I don’t know of anything else like it. Being able to record the scaling, rotating and flipping too is super nice. The iOS touch interface put to really good use. It’s currently crashing quite a lot within AUM and also crashing AUM itself. Not been able to recover any logs. It loses all settings after a crash too but that’s why it’s in beta

  • Loop record has stopped working altogether in the just dropped 14. Thought I’d post here just in case anyone else has just jumped on the app. Sure it will be fixed soon

its still working here - build 14 :# - saying that it is sort of all over the place ^^

  • @scrape thanks for feedback — looks like it behaves quite differently between 16.4 and 16.6 for some reason, I'll test that more to find the problem. Sorry for that.
    Thanks!

  • @a_n Hi I'm on 16.6 and I'm loving this so far - it does seem to be shifting the chosen CC value (giving me wild but fun 'all over the place' modulations) - have I misunderstood something or is this intended or is this part of the issue?

Whatever it is keep it up! Thanks

  • looks like the same issue. I'll do some fixes soon

But you can do some kind of "same" effect anyway — you can have two layers with same CC output mapping and if the loops are enabled in both, it would produce that kind of weird modulation

  • and a sort of off-topic: i'll be releasing the smaller free part of this app for many platforms at once and the beta versions for desktop are already there so if you use it as well - welcome too

  • Just joined it. Love that it can record and loop gestures that’s something I’ve been wanting to see more.

  • interesting app. Good for an iPad sitting next to a modular synth.

  • @Phil999 thanks. i was actually curious for the setup with the modular synth if that works well this way with MIDI CC only? or should it also include an audio CV output (which would require some special hardware anyway)?

  • I sent a few messages through TestFlight @a_n

Personally I don’t have a DC-coupled interface or one of those Expert Sleepers modules, but the latter are quite popular I think.

If you don’t have an external device that does midi to cc>cv this has been amazing
