Zoom Audio Interface
Hi,
After letting it sit in a box.... I've decided to get back into using my iPad as a pedalboard /rig.
I play electric violin and need an audio interface. I had a Omec (by Orange) but there's too much latency.
Has anyone (guitar players) tried the Zoom with their iPad? Zoom AMS-22 or AMS-24
If so - is there latency?
What fx processing software do you use? Do you use anything like AUM or LogicPro - vs - just using a complete rig like Amplitude or Bias or something.
Thanks

I have the Zoom U24 and it works great. Latency is largely going to be a function of the buffer size you use in your host.
I primarily use Loopy Pro or AUM as my host. I find that THU, the Nembrini amp sims and Rhino and TONEX sound better than Amplitude of BIAS. THU is setup so that it can work as a standalone or AUv3 and can handle whole effects chains if you have a bunch of there effects . It can be convenient if you like to switch effect chains per song…I tend to not do that.
I was reading some reviews of the Zoom AMS-22, people complain it is noisy. AMS-24, I don't know. U24 is probably also better. I found out when I was looking for the very cheap U-22 (35 euro), that is noisy too, not only the input but also the output.
Reading its specs, that shouldn't be the case but who knows, some may have been DoA?
Been happy with my Zoom H1n so far. Small and good sound quality (miles ahead of my Behringer UCA-222), and works with iOS.
I suspect that your electric violin has a line level output?
