"2D Touch Control To MIDI Control Change"
This is a touch control app that is designed to work with touch gestures and output MIDI Control Change messages.
This app is available as standalone version that can run in background and as an AUv3.
It features basic features:
2D Touch Area where you can set 3 MIDI values
(X, Y and Touch On / Off) that will be sent as MIDI CC messagesTwo gesture recording modes: "Loop" and
"Once":
-- In "Loop" mode the gesture is immediately repeated infinitely. You can restart it and change the direction of gesture loop
-- In "Once" mode the gesture is recorded silently and only played back later when "trigger" or
"+pause" buttons are pressed.
... and some important extras:Scene support. You can store all settings in a
"scene" and switch between them. There is an option to set a transition time between scenes to morph loops.Extended timing support. Start/stop and speed of the loop can also be recorded and played back.
The recorded gesture loop can follow the host
tempo when running in plugin mode.Layers. Each instance of the app supports multiple output settings; scene switch is synchronised across all layers.
Comments
This was developed, I think, as a result of me reaching out to Alexey to suggest it, II had bemoaned the lack of a dedicated AUV3 XY recorder that could be used with any app instead of being a function inside some of them), and I helped to beta test it, so it would be rude of me not to buy it! Trying it out now…
There also a compact free version you can find here:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ddtctmcc-ff/id6460858922
the app is fabulous but smth is not ok...
I tried (before getting the full one) the free one
and it shows 30% on AUM cpu gauge... smth is not right:(
how is it on your side?! or maybe thats only in the free version as a drag-down-buy-the-full-one?!:)))
tried the free on 2 devices:
ipad air 3 - 1 instance shows 30% in AUM
iphone 11 - 1 instance shows 20% AUM
so smth is buggy...
XY can be done in Surface Builder, create as many as you want.
How many XY screens can you make with this? I like that it has a looping function.
I wanted the Looping function. I don’t have (or like) Surface Builder. Horses, courses.
can any1 tell the cpu reading in AUM of the full version per instance?!
thnx
@waka_x thanks for the report - sorry for that, will check some other os / device combinations to determine it
the free version is exactly the same as the full just missing extra features so if it doesn't run well on your device, the full one will do the same.
The main idea for the app is the ability to record/play gestures and have extra controls for that. There are already plenty of nice controllers for different thing that would include just an XY pad as well (TouchOSC, SurfaceBuilder, Lemur if you still have it, etc.)
a_n:
thank you! both devices have latest iOS.
I hope you can fix the cpu leak because I like your app and I would like to use it live:)
Hmm, can’t get host sync or enter precise value to work in Drambo or AUM, so far… anyone else got them working?
Cpu usage seems very very high yes, needs some kind of optimising
When that is fixed will be very useful tho. And seems it is likely to he a problem occuring only on some devices and / or OS
@Gavinski yes, got reports for some configurations;
working on an update, will post here as soon as it's ready
Excellent!
I’m using it in AUM on iPad 11Pro M2. I’ve tried it with a few apps now. Just tried it with Animoog AU. Working great. CPU with just Animoog was o 38%. Added ddtctmcc and connected it with a recorded midi loop. The CPU was still only wavering between 38% and 40%.
No issues here that I can see.
Was on the beta as well and it’s a great one! I’m not really interested in surface builder or touch osc so I’m happy to have this app
If you have Rozeta, run its X-Y module into the free midi tape recorder app and set MTR to loop.
…And if I have Drambo, I could make something that would do it, and if I could code Mozaic I could code something, and there’s a module in miRack that does it…
Or I could just use this one bespoke thing that does this one bespoke thing.
(Spoiler alert: I have Drambo, Mozaic, miRack…)
…and I’m using the one bespoke thing to do the bespoke thing.
Thanks
Haha I understand this so much. I love all the apps mentioned but there’s a lot to be said about a simpler app that does one thing really well. I don’t always want to have to make my own version of everything lol
What’s going on here? I must be doing something dumb.
-Open app as au midi processor in host
-Press setup, enable scenes, close setup
-Press timing, tempo, host
-Adjust tempo in host, observe tempo indicator in app adjust with host tempo change
-Nothing happens to loop speed
Am I doing something wrong?
Iphone x and ipad pro gen 3, latest os
@Kewe_Esse
i'll check if there is an issue with this, will write later, sorry
@Kewe_Esse found it, fixed in the upcoming update. thanks for the report and sorry for that
Cool thanks, thought I was going mad. Can’t use the ‘value’ button either, does nothing when I tap it in either standalone or au
fixed reported issues, will be releasing v1.0.1 soon
here it is if you want to give it a try:

Nice one Alex!
I don't find much interest here on this app. No videos, no examples, no comments by anyone. I tried out the free version and immediately liked using it and the way CCs can be animated. It is a unique and useful concept.
So I bought the upgrade to have scenes and layers and … boy was I disappointed when nothing seems to work. A very unintuitive UI doesn't help but even after I think I had it figured out, scenes disappear, layers don't seem to function at all. After few tries even the graphic stops drawing. Definitely out of whack.
Has anyone else used this with more luck than me? I'd be happy if I'm just a dummy and it's possible to get it to work.
I lieu of this app, are there any others where I could animate and record CCs over a loop of time?
Not AUv3 but extemely useful, beautiful and you can 'play' 8 different CCs in one instance, is Ribn:
https://apps.apple.com/app/ribn/id1413777040
I use Stage Manager when I want to use this to control apps in AUM. I just really appreciate the UI on it, everything big and beautiful, with the gorgeous colour scheme. Ticks a lot of boxes for me, someone really should make an AUv3 version, it would be popular.
Never got around to trying it but love his sampling app Esion. And he has/had a great YouTube channel. Though he doesn’t seem to upload anymore.
Hadn't heard of that, looks interesting, but seems like you could probably do that and much more with Gauss + Ribn + your own fx so I think I can resist the urge to buy this haha.
Oh absolutely. It’s more about the sum of its parts I think but with no real connectivity or any updates in some time, it’s probably best to stick with what you know. I’m glad I got it when I did but not sure I’d buy it now.
I don't understand why it's ddtctmcc and not tdtctmcc.
But "Two" in French is "Deux" so maybe D make sense.
But it's a tricky name to remember. I suggest "Gestures Midi".
