Charming the sludge wyrms

There’s a lot of low frequency stuff in this, so best use headphones or good speakers. And beware the flickery video if it’s likely to be a problem for you.

Having been in a bit of a creative slump, I’ve been going back through recordings I’ve made over the last few months, and found this one. Which I’d got as far as giving a name.

Unfortunately I haven’t made any notes whatsoever about the patch, and I’m not even sure which bits are hardware and which bits are software. It’s definitely a mix of the two, and judging by the date (mid-July) it’s probably a mix of bits of the Moog Sound Studio 3, Moog Mavis and DecadeBridge Cadence, but I can’t be sure which instruments are actually in use!

I’m fairly certain Other Desert Cities and Blackhole are in use as effects, plus TruePan on the percussion, and it’s been recorded in AUM on my iPad.

Video done with Imaginando VS, finished in LumaFusion.

There’s an oblique reference there to the World Worm Charming Championship, an event I’ve never attended, but which is fairly local. Search Wikipedia for Worm Charming for more info. It’s much less science fiction and in some ways much weirder than my music!

  • Still love this track and the video! It's got an oil projection vibe and a very trippy hypnotic feel

Hey, thanks for giving it a repeat listen.

I’ve been slow to post it here because I’ve been so behind on checking out the Creations section. Had a nice couple of hours earlier doing some catch up, so it felt OK posting it.

  • Very cool. Sounds great in headphones. Just for kicks, I played this a few times with some drums, bass, and vocal samples in the background. Definitely has an old Pink Floyd vibe. I like Dark Side and the newer stuff, but the old Floyd is still my favorite. Nice track.

Thanks for giving it a play, and for your kind words!

  • Great title, great music, video reminded me of the old lava lamps.
I was going to say I’d rather go to the Cheese Show if you’re where I think you are but I see it’s moved. Oh well !

Thank you for listening, and your kind comments.

I’ve never been to the cheese show either - didn’t know it had moved, even! TBH I only came across the worm charming because I had a friend whose daughter entered it about 30 years ago!
