Which controller
I was looking for a midi controller and a lot of these newer controllers have where it plays in scales, will those scales work using the iPad??

yes, they're just restricting what notes are available. like removing black keys from the keyboard, as an example.
(although personally i would advise don't play them in scale mode, as you miss out on doing anything interesting, miss out on learning, and miss out on productive mistakes.)
