Blocs wave Launchpad app

I have found love with blocs wave and the Launchpad app. I’m putting together some tracks using both of these apps but I’m trying to find ideas for the best workflow. I can use cubasis and all but it seems going that route can be time consuming but is that the easiest workflow for laying down tracks or do you have some other suggestions

If you’re using both I would build most of the track in blocs wave, export to launchpad to perform and add some bells and whistles. Personally though I just perform the track in blocs wave while recording to a wav via AudioShare or something like that. Either way, starting in blocs is incredibly easy and straightforward

  • I load each BW or LP into AUM and record my track from in there. These 2 apps were musicmaking gamechangers on IOS me. Have fun! ED

  • Sean the Producer, on youtube, maybe here too, uses em

  • You can record natively within the apps themselves and then export that to your DAW for further editing. That’s usually what I do when I’m using them.

  • I dump all the little grooves and stems and melody ideas as audio into BlocsWave. These stems come from song ideas I’ve started in Logic on the Mac or from iOS apps such as AUM.

BlocsWave is like my musical notepad. It can be just a way to listen back to things I’d started on the laptop quickly and wherever I am with my iPhone. I also use it to mix and match different snippets into new songs — with BlocsWave taking care of all the time stretching and pitch shifting as required.

From there I export the WAVs and import them into Logic.

Now I might use Logic on iPad as an interim step so that I can continue using all the iOS only sound sources more easily.

I take them into Logic on the mac when they’re close to a finished song and finish them there.

BlocsWave is a brilliant little app.

My only real criticism is now that I have so much stuff in ther it needs much better file management. Being able to store it all in the cloud would be good too, as would sharing between iPad and iPhone.

BlocsWave got me out of a rut a few years ago and I’ve not looked back. :-)

Yeah Blocs Wave is great. Launchpad is also super fun. I take my weird ambient drones and load them there and mix them with the stock drum loops for some fun jams.

I do wish Blocs would also record AU instead of only IAA. Maybe eventually.

  • People who like Blocs Wave might want to check out Loopmix too. It’s au.

Loopmix is great but I use them in different ways. So far anyway.
