Hey. This is my first official Zenbeats 3 song, and I can’t say it’s finished finished but for right now I thought it was better than some of my other attempts and wanted to share. I used a Roland S-1 synth for all instruments and midi keys, woodsynth (as sequencer), ZR1 for drums, and a couple of things like compressors, limiters, and stuff. Please let me know if it’s any good, and what you would recommend for improvements if you want. (Removed for tweaking ).

I like how it builds. I think some big synth chords might sound good. Maybe bring up the snare and hi-hats a bit to balance the mix a bit more. A little panning is fun. There are quite a few apps that help with that. Here is something that many forum members may disagree with, but some good samples can add spice and variety. One app in particular is called Blocs Wave. I have used that a lot for new ideas and to add to the mix. The app itself is free, and the sample packs are cheap. Each pack usually includes Bass, Drums, Melody, Percussion, Special Effects, and some “interesting” vocal loops. Just my two cents. Keep writing and posting. Have a good one!
Thank you
As for samples, I like to either make my own “samples”(meaning a live cut or ripping off my own tracks), remixing the sonic ideas of others or use vocal samples of the kind you mean.but I’ll look at Blocs wave and see how it might augment this type of stuff.
But Thanks Paulie, for listening and for the thoughtful feedback. I DID forget to pan! I usually do and with S1 panning is particularly fun because it’s down with motion control, so yes definitely need to do that.
And yes the drums do need a little more punch in those areas, for sure. It is a little drowned out because of the mix. I did another one with grand finale but it seemed too much. I haven’t figured out how to use it for this yet. Anywho I appreciate your suggestions
I have tried dozens of mastering apps and my favorite is MagicDeathEye Stereo. I often use that in combination with Stereo Width from Blue Mangoo. Another good one is Barkfilter. Try the TripleBand setting. It’s killer!
Thank you for sharing. My constructive criticism would be maybe a little more variation with the drums. Nice work
Thank you too man ! Actually I meant to ask you, your drums in hammerhead were really good, how did you get so much out it? I’m trying to learn how to make better drums
