JWM - The Mad Hatter (90s Techno/House created 100% on my iPhone!)

Back in action, here is a brand new track created 100% on my iPhone in NS2. I'm not sure if it's Techno or House, but whatevs.

All the drums come from the KB6 909 pack, and most of the synths are just Obsidian (except for the high string, which is from Module Pro).

Mastered with MagicDeathEyeStereo, ReelBus, NS2's limiter, and Youlean's Loudness Meter to make sure it hits around -14 LuFS.

The cover art was generated in Wonder AI and the text added in ProCreate Pocket (which I forgot existed until today, lol).

Cheers, enjoy, and if you like it, comment below!

  • Well done! You did a good job of building and releasing tension. The 909 never gets old!

Facts! The 909 is just an amazing machine, and I'm so glad to have that sample pack. :)

  • Sweet! You experimenting with the iPhone only workflow lately? Those 909 drums sound fantastic 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻 I need to get that MagicDeathEye app eventually. I’m just stuck on FAC and TB lol.

You using the full unlock of YouLean? Trying to decide if it’s worth it to unlock or just get BFM.

  • Nice production and beats!

FAC and TB are fantastic, although for beefing up the drums I used Beef. :) @CaelumAudio made one of my most used plugins for drums and occasionally on bass as well. :)

I do have the full unlock as a measure to support them. I like BFM, but YouLean is very straightforward. That all said, I think Youlean can be used without dropping money on it. I forgot what features of Youlean are locked behind the paywall, but if you can see the LuFS numbers, you're golden. :)

  • You get better and better, bro.

From what I understand the unlock is mostly for the extra visual aids. The free version definitely still shows the LUFs meter. But it would be nice to be able to visualize it easier so I’ll probably get it if it ever goes on sale. Or just take the plunge on BFM.

And yes the Caelum Audio apps are among my favorites as well. Smoov and Schlap are 2 of my most used compressors. Dustbin, the Flux apps, etc. Choric is probably my favorite chorus on iOS too.

I've tried both Youlean and BFM and I can honestly say I prefer Youlean, but your mileage may vary.

I effing love Choric! I used it on my vocals in the "Stop Pushin" cover I did.

Thanks! Maybe I should just stick with YouLean lol. Something about the big text of BFM scratches my brain in just the right way though lol

Choric is soooo amazing. I’m a big fan of any chorus/any effect app that can also push the boundaries of what’s possible with it. Like Bleass’s Flanger and Neon Silicons apps.

  • Cool! Gets me in the mood for a bit of dance music. Stay tuned.

  • Great track, Jim! Breaks, builds, drops and the track keeps you going non stop.
    Loved this!

  • Glad your back in action, not my genre at all but loved the build from about 1:50 ish and production is top notch as usual 👍

Thank you so much mate. Always makes me happy when someone who isn't into the genre enjoys it anyways. ❤️
