IOS 17 - iPhone/iPad (Is out now)

Doesn’t it come out today? Anyone got it yet? Any issues?

    It'll be out later today...
    (around 8pm in Sweden is usually when Apple drops the updates).

    My iPhone 8 won't make it to iOS17, only the M1 iPadPro (iPadOS17) and my AppleTV (tvOS17) 'qualify' :sunglasses:

    I’m on the beta program. Not using any music apps (all ipad) but any bugs i’ve felt in regular use are gone, as far as i can tell. And no notable new features, since no one asked 🙃

    I have an iPhone XR which is nowhere near top of the range but still qualifies

    nothing new that grabs me on IOS 17, so no urgency - I'll give it a few weeks and see what others say ;)

    No doubt it will impact by phone battery life even more !!

    The only thing I've heard is that you can get a usb capture card for the iPad and with an additional bit of software you can use it as an additional monitor. That will be quite useful to me. Relative to the other stuff. I don't know.

    For me the beta has been largely stable, just a few issues with text selection, auto-correct, and zooming in Maps that seem to be fixed in the latest RC version. All of my (rather limited selection) of music and video apps seem to working fine though. Note, Groovebox, FCP, Fabfilters, etc.

    Well, FCP is no more buggy than it was before anyway. 😉

    I don’t see anything on the IPad side that stands out as far as music production goes, it’s got some new things for sure, but I don’t see anything that says they had IPad producers/Musicians in mind. I’ll probably update my IPhone just for the hell of it but I’ll wait as far as my IPad goes, at least until I’m sure it doesn’t break anything that’s not broken……as they say…if it ain’t broke 🤷🏽‍♂️

    That might improve over time. Likely everyone is slamming their servers at once trying to update.

    I haven’t done any testing but both iPad and phone upgraded. Think I got lucky with my download slot. I don’t notice any difference.

    Per @cyberheater Stage Manager get some nice refinements. I don't see much that will directly affect most music workflows. However I don't think this document probably covers under-the-covers changes to core libraries and such so who knows. I installed right away and so far my projects in Logic and AUM seem to open and run fine, no noticeable spike in CPU utilization or anything.

    @cyberheater There was something very wrong on my end, had to do a force restart and after that hours changed to minutes. Still took a good 20 or so. :)
