Humming Wires - catchy Indie Rock 🎸🥁🎤
The sound borrows heavily from Galaxie 500, with the addition of some synthesizer textures. The clean guitar with a plate reverb is one of my favourite guitar tones ever, it's surprising that it isn't used more often. Shame that SoundCloud makes it sound like it's been played through a flanger 😆
Lyrics in the spoiler, I worked very hard to try and make the vocal melody as catchy and interesting as possible, I hope that comes through.
What’s that sound that you hear?
What’s that droning in your ear?
High overhead
Just a constant buzzing thread
Humming wires
Hypnotise
Everywhere where the wind blows
The wires talk the data flows
Pinging you and me
Swipe the screen to see
In data banks our lives are stored
We live for likes we’re never bored
Watch the feed, read the thread
Fuel the rumours as they spread
Deep underground
Just a constant buzzing sound
Humming wires
Hypnotise
Everywhere where the wind blows
The wires talk the data flows
Pinging you and me
Swipe the screen to see
In data banks our lives are stored
We live for likes we’re never bored

"We live for likes we’re never bored" That's dark, haha! The song is brilliant, the singing feels like an inseparable part of the whole, and I love the solo guitar at the end. You are right about the tone. 🤩
Nice one @richardyot! Your vocal tracks always sound great, and I also agree about the clean guitar tone.
Thanks both for listening and for taking the time to comment
Nice song, good lyrics.😊 One thing I could miss is a short intro, to avoid the cold(hard) start.
Thanks for listening. I think part of the problem with the start is that SoundCloud cuts off the first quarter second for some reason. I sometimes just add a tiny silence at the start of the song to get around this.
Nice slice of Indie - got to agree with the guitar tone comments as well!
Great track,Richard! Very nice and sarcastic lyrics in the chorus, digital life couldn't be described any better than this
I love the guitar tone, and the singing melody👍
Thanks for commenting and listening @AlterEgo_UK @JanKun and @Blipsford_Baubie
Excellent song. Great lyrics. We live for likes. How true. I thought the guitar sounded really good. I didn’t hear anything flangy at all. Great song to relax to after a tough day.
Some good advice there, I’m taking notes 😆
Why, yes: I do believe it is catchy! Getting sort of Durutti Column / Cherry Red artist vibes from this. Reminds me a little of Sketch For A Summer:
@richardyot @JanKun If I said something negative or offensive, that was not my intent. Please accept my apology. I have the utmost respect for all members and would never do anything to hurt anyone. A little background about me...
In 2004 we lost our 2 sons. I withdrew. Quit my band. Packed away all of my gear, and went dark for 15 years. A few years ago I discovered that I could use an iPad to make something resembling music. It wasn't until then that I began to see some light. In the process of teaching myself, I discovered this forum. Sometimes I think I am trying to make up for lost time. I often get a bit carried away with strange music and silly titles. In the process I occasionally put my foot in my mouth. I am an "old guy", complete with gray hair and arthritis. I speak a different language than young people. Please be understanding. I just don't know any better.
I enjoyed listening to your song, but apparently I said something negative in my comment. I thought "Live for likes" was a great line and so appropriate for the digital world we live in. I try not to pay attention to those things but, we are, after all human, and approval seeking beings.
So again, if something I said was taken in a negative way, that was never my intent. Please accept my apology.
Hi Paulie! Sorry to hear about the sad events in your life. And very happy that this forum somehow helped you get over those hard times.
To be honest, I am a bit surprised about your reaction. I personally think there was absolutely nothing offensive in your first comment, it was actually very thoughtful. The sarcastic video I posted was not aimed at anyone in particular and certainly not at you. It is just today's YouTube algorithm suggestion and I thought it somehow had something to do with Richard's lyrics.
So you have no reason to feel the way you do now, and you have really no reason for apologizing. You did nothing wrong.
I am sure anybody following the creation section on this forum is happy to have such a creative mind like yours in here. I still hope we'll have a chance to find the right timing to work together.
There was absolutely nothing offensive or negative in your post - sorry I should have acknowledged it and thanked you for taking the time to listen. The video @JanKun posted was just about the internet and had nothing to do with your comment above it
I'm really sorry to hear about the loss of your two sons - as a father of two boys myself I cannot imagine how painful that must have been. But please be assured that your contributions here are worthwhile and very welcome.
That's a new one to me - thanks for posting
Not really a vocals sort of guy but I enjoyed this one more than usual 👍, no idea why 🤨
