Just updated and I can't get it to crash with those specific steps. It was buggy though the first time I accessed the crossfade parameters, not allowing me to adjust any parameters at all, kept snapping back to blank, and it did crash when trying to play the sample in this odd 'value-less' state. After restarting though it works fine, I can now set ranges properly and I cant get it to crash after ten minutes of trying again.
Try to re-adjust the crosfade value and toggle the reverse again . If it doesn't crash it will definitely kill the audio (have to soft restart the ipad) . Caution , use the speakers because the momentary popup sound glitch , is way loud
9/10 it crashes and kills audio , 1/10 it just kills the audio
Maybe I am missing something?
After numerous attempts, the audio did die but no crash. For me, it is not an issue that would have any impact on my use of BM3.
Again and without retriggering before hitting reverse..
Tried both with speakers and with usbc dongle. M1 16.6.1
Seems fine at 128 buffer, but starts freaking-out from 256 and up.
Guess it’s just me then.
Try this project , I’ve included the sample

Edit : forgot to disable timestretch on 2 layers ... so first disable it and then hit the reverse on first layer , sorry for the confusion
Unfortunately it was critical for me since my first step was sampling and messing with various parameters .
But I've move along , already deleted it
Yup, crasheroo! Seems like by toggling reverse after adjusting crossfade parameters with only one layer / one polyphony it doesn't crash for me. But once I try it with more than one layer or polyphony set it will crash.
Well , nowdays there is ZenBeats , Koala and recently bought an SP404mkII , so won't hold my breath for the dev to catch up
Thanks for testing
Yah I moved shop mostly to Maschine a while ago but I still got a soft spot for this ol app.
Long time since I used BM3
And can’t remember why I stopped using it
Perhaps I thought it wasn’t going to be supported so I moved on and jumped on other apps
Gonna have to revisit
clicking is because of your ipad air2... cpu can't handle and that is why it clicks, it means you need to raise the buffer
crossfading + reverse doesnt kill the sound engine for me, i guess your device is too weak to handle it...
c'mon
bm3 outdoes koala, zenbeats and the sp(which let's be real, is the worst of all 3 options by features, ease of use or the ux)
the dev doesn't need to catch up with them, it's the other way...
and i come from maschine studio, it ain't much better and in some cases it's actually not on par with bm3, the biggest thing it has is the integration with the hardware(with not automation editing) and nks.
NI made some huge mistakes with maschine and haven't fixed them for over 8+ years.
clicking is because of disk-streaming
crossfading and reverse does kill the audio , download the project file (and read the edited section)

as for crackiling audio when using "Live Stretch" , I don't think I had that problem 3+ years ago , plus it affects higher notes ,not lower , but for this particularly I guess a modern iPad isn't affected
BM3 was absolutely my go to back in commuting days (NS2 with other app hacks was a close second). I got Maschine about three years ago when I started working from home. (Got into it because of BM3 actually.) I love the huge sound library and as far as the software, being able to run it as a vst inside of Samplitude or Endlesss opens up tons of flexibility for me. Have had a few issues though with bugs and performance that eventually resolved, so it has not been without it's temporary headaches, but overall I am extremely happy with what I have been making with it. As a sketching tool it is the best I have ever had. Within no time I had a ton of sketches I really like. Now I look Abe/Push and wonder... would sure be nice to record clip jams to a timeline etc. But yah, for me none of these things are perfect, many have their unique strengths.
I was wrong, you caught a serious bug, noise becomes loudest at about 12ms crossfade
It has nothing to do with sound engine per se but there is a noise limiter that can lead to ios killing the audio engine
It didn’t crash in me but it nonetheless…
Oh and it also plays the loop forward from the loop start point and not reverse from the end point for some unknown reason.
Good catch, passed it and hopefully it will be fixed

The "reverse" bug is reported directly to Intua since September 28, 2020 15:03
It is often necessary to remind a developer of a bug -- or for more than one person to contact them. Even the most conscientious developer sometimes loses track of bugs -- and sometimes they prioritize based on feedback. When I was a developer, the person who made the decisions about what bugs to fix often de-prioritized bugs if there wasn't much feedback about them.
Hehe.
There are a lot of major bugs that have never been fixed.
I agree. I do wish they would improve the midi au side of things a bit though… Such a waste not to.
How much experience have you actually had with interacting with Intua? I've had more interaction talking to my plants. 😂
Here's how involved the developer is with their own forum:
The less engaged a developer is, the more likely they are not to have something stay on their radar. I am not saying there is any sort of guarantee that that reminding the dev (or vicariously the BM3 Discord) will get a big fixed but if there was a report a couple of years ago from 1or 2 people only … it is almost certain not to have stayed on the radar.
That's the charitable view - and bless you for it. The cynical view is that this developer doesn't give that much of a f*ck and it's a waste of time to repeat yourself.
With Intua the vast amount of time between updates and the zero communication over when or if they'll ever come, I don't think you'll find many people feel it's worth their time and attention to repeat themselves. I know I don't.
Glad to see the update though. Even though I no longer care about the app, it's good to see it isn't altogether dead for the sake of those that do.
it's almost 2 years that the Intua forum is a spam bot playground
I'll open another ticket to support and will email them directly , but this time I'll link photos/video to filesharing platform that keeps stats (so I can confirm that someone actually checked it)
My understanding is that their Discord is the place to go.
It's funny that in 2023, people are expected to register on some strange gaming chat platform or Facebook to get customer service 😄 either customer service is via email (or phone in the case of bigger companies), or nonexistent as far as I (44 year old grumpy man) am concerned.
The race to the bottom has consequences.
Discord may have started as a platform for gamers, but it has long since gone far beyond that.
