I want to love Koala Sampler

But love is difficult when you keep getting this. is 10 gigs of storage too little?

Comments

  • AUv3's have a memory limit and Koala as far as I know does not do disk-streaming...
How big files are you trying to load?

And this is why I bought an iPhone 14 Pro Max with 1TB storage. It seems overkill at first, but let's just say 128gb can fill up rather swiftly, especially if you use romplers like XinematiX, Pure Synth Platinum 2, Module Pro, and Beathawk (as an AUv3).

What is your current device, and what maximum storage capacity does it have? And what apps do you currently use besides Koala?

  • 10 gb free is plenty. Can you explain what you did prior to getting that error message?

    A mere ten megabytes.

Drag and drop from SampleCrate. Does not matter if the file is large or small. Same result.

    Is it a 10MB MP3/Compressed file?
If yes it could explain it since it needs to be expanded before it can be used...

Put an instance of Koala in AUM. Tried to drag and drop from samplecrate. Produces error.

What if you drag and drop from Files or use Koala’s import audio menu command?

Thanks for your respone and help. It is a 24bit wav file. Lossless.

Where are the samples stored? (Hope it's NOT AudioShare).
If it's a regular folder on the iPad I'd suggest adding the folder as a location in the 'Samples' tab in Koala.
That will make import and preview a lot easier. (You can add as many locations as needed for quick access within Koala).

  • I am having no problem dragging from samplecrate into koala

  • Are you possibly dragging files from the cloud that might no longer be downloaded?

Thanks. The problem is an external drive on a hub. This worked in the past. Loading files from within the app works fine. Like samplecrate because I can audition samples. Guess I’ll have to audition, tag, and then load. Cramps the workflow but it is what it is. Thanks for all your help.

From samplecrate on an external drive via hub. This seems to be the problem. Files load fine from within the app.

When you audition files on samplecrate they stay listed on the recent files on the file browser, I use this with apps that doesnt Support drag and drop.

  • @Samu why NOT AudioShare? Is kinda a bitch though cause that's where most my samples/AUM recordings/and freakin PAID samples from AudioCopy be, but Koala won't let me add it as a directory

  • I'm literally asking you to email me in the error message - let me help you! Write to the email address in that screenshot and lets get this thing fixed!!!!

Because you can’t link/reference to folders in AudioShare and have to import/copy the samples one by one…

You can keep the paid samples in AudioCopy and link the AudioCopy folder directly into Koala’s sample browser since it’s directly available in Files.app, no need to copy anything :sunglasses:

  • @Samu you are right, i can see the Paid AudioCopy samples, but not my more important AUM experiments. And there's probably about 2,000,000 so one by one is a no go. Thinking out loud, could i just copy, well cut everything out of AudioShare (is there a folder?) and then Paste it all in to my self made folder that it DOES let me see?

@elf_audio your app keeps getting better and better, hope you enjoy your break. Could we someday be able to rename our linked sources/folders vs all of them saying Documents? Sorry if im just not seeing it now

That should work, someday I do hope to see an option to show AUM recordings in the Files.app without needing to have AudioShare installed. You can already see the saved AUM projects in Files.app but recordings get tucked into the shared container which is managed with AudioShare.

Ideally AUM should not depend on AudioShare and save the recordings in the AUM folder for easier access between apps.

That could be nice but one can always link to a 'sub folder' with a more descriptive name.
(As an example I link directly to the 'Samples' folder in BM3 and it reads 'Samples' in Koala).

I've also got my NAS (Network Attached Storage) directly linked into the Koala Sampler browser.
(You can connect to a network server in Files.app and once the folder is visible select it in Koala).

So when I'm home I have direct access to all my samples stored on my Mac as well as on my NAS over Wifi directly in the Koala Sample browser, super handy!

  • Thanks for the tips! @Samu
