Taking Koala’s new stuff for a spin: Higher Power

There are nearly 400 million guns in the U.S., some 120 guns for every 100 Americans. Half of the privately-owned guns are owned by 3 percent of the population.

A confession: if I lived in the US, I’d be one of them. The MAGA hats worst nightmare: a limp wristed libertard tranny with a gun.

Of course the whole vigilante/school shooting/home DEEfence/massive magazine tacticool thing is screwed up, out of control, because, it seems to this interfering foreigner at least, of the complete absence of sensible limitations in many states. (Interesting that Canada, which also allows weapons, but does have controls in place, has nowhere near the levels of violence and mayhem).

But having been there many times, I have sympathy for those in vast rural areas where animals are big and scary, hunting might well actually be for food, and if you need the cops, they’ll be a long time coming.

I have only ever fired a 410 shotgun in the UK, (at clays) and never in my time in the police wanted to join the armed units. I would never want to shoot and hurt or kill any living thing.

But I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t like to test myself on a range one day. And I do find the mythology and language around firearms… interesting.

(Sidenote: amongst my transgender peer group, one woman has developed an interest in massive telescopes, another in DIY chemical rockets, and myself an entirely academic interest in firearms, all post transition. Paging Dr. Freud… )

I made this entirely in Koala, using the onboard tape delay and bit crusher, and samples of an actual Browning Hi-Power from Freesound.org. The AI vocal from Elevenlabs is using language from the original Browning advertising blurb, along with a couple of, er, emendations of my own. I think you can probably spot which ones. (Is it just me, btw, or does the AI sound both excited and rather pleased with itself?) The music background is warped and twisted in Koala from a little screen capped Arpie sequence.

Fold, spindle or mutilate, as you will.

I see what you mean about the terminology… Rear Sight, Back Strap, Take Down Notch all sound like something out a bondage magazine (so I’m told 😊) Fascinating track, I liked it !
