“Lumbeats Jazz Drummers Stomp”
I used the MIDI output of the Lumbeats Jazz Drummers:
Soft Drummer
Jazz Drummer
Funk Drummer
AfroLatin DM
Mid East Drummer
I pass the MIDI through a Rozeta Scaler modulated by transposing LFOs.
The band is made of 3 PianoTeq instances and an iFretless Bass getting all MIDI from the above.
Then I one fingered the B3 and Muted Trumpet soloists.
No audience was injured in this effort to re-create the last phase of Miles’ creativity.

I am benefiting from the herbal remedy this evening, but that did sound bubbly and good.
Thanks. This Bud’s for you. I am thankful for edibles to skip the hacking cough and lung damage.
Myzterious Muzic.
“He is risen.”
I hope you are getting past your creative block. It’s not about the chops. I think your critic is back on that wall telling you it’s pointless. It’s not. The act is the point. The results are just there to trigger memory and let others take their own journey.
Nothing pointless in either pursuit… making or consuming.
Outstanding! I’m hearing a definite Mexican feel to this. Frank Zapata. For some reason, this reminds me of “Fundamental” by a band called Puya. The two are not even remotely similar, but I just hear it. I had the pleasure of seeing Miles shortly before he died. I nearly died that night, too. Long story. Great track!
Long Story? Maybe dole it out in installments with a subscription to read the next one early. Substack was made for writers to make less than minimum wage.
Oh… thanks for the listen and comment. Zappa could write complex stuff without computers and find cats to actually render the notes. Of course his shows were freak shows for the rubes mostly with scatalogical lyrics like “Mud Shark”. He knew his audience and musicians were a minority. Still the assembled talent was pretty amazing… only Sting had such great bands and James Taylor’s crew.
I saw Zappa at the Chicago Auditorium. What a great show. They featured the “George Duke Dance Contest “. That was hilarious! They had people dressed up as frogmen walking around on stage for no apparent reason. Also had Ruth Underwood and several more of the usual suspects. Killer!
Do you remember who the drummer(s) were? I have a Chad Wackerman story.
It could be Terry Bozzio… knowing it was George Duke on keyboards probably means it was Dennis Chambers.
I don’t remember who the drummer was. I did see Dennis Chambers with John McLaughlin and Joey Defrancisco at the Cubby Bear Lounge many years ago. I went with Tony Iovino, that killer guitar player. Now that was a great show!!! I was about ten feet away.
This one has a real human vibe to it. Organ solo sounded great.
Yes. The Lumbeats Jazz Drummers are very human.
Thanks. I was just too lazy on the couch to go get my Bluetooth keyboard and play real organ chord licks like @Daveypoo has mastered in his R&B gems. But my focus is on crafting an
automated band that’s worth playing over… even if it’s with one finger on the AUM screen keyboard.
You and me both, my man.
How very "Big Fun" of you - definitely playing in that arena, and the callout of the muted trumpet is a nice touch. Dig those crazy grooves, daddy-o.
wow dude. you really push what's possible with ios stuff.
nice mix also👍
Ciao Principesa… Nice of you to check on and see who died. Are you thriving in Italy?
@McD I've been here the whole time, just not had a topic to chime in on. Not been buying apps recently.
Italy is great. How's California - still there?
The aquarium dropped the “guest pass” feature during Covid and haven’t brought it back. Fun while it lasted.
We still see Otters everyday along with some other cool ocean mammals and birds.
Well worth resurrecting… not sure if was intentional but did you one finger the soloists or the solos ? 🤨
I recall placing one finger on the soloist’s organ. Then blowing the trumpet.
