Can some recommend a really good sample pack for Koala
Just as the title says. Looking for a good sample pack for Koala.
Something with drums, bass, synths and or experimental sounds.
Comments
Doug recently made a video about a sample pack for koala and some get posted here occasionally. Have you tried searching in the search bar? I’m sure at least a handful will pop up.
Thanks. I’ll do a search.
Also (just because I’ve seen some people that don’t know) there are some factory samples inside Koala if you haven’t used them yet.
I show off stock factory samples here.
The only sample that isn't stock is a vinyl crackle off of freesound.org .
Sample packs I like to use...

These above three packs contain mostly unprocessed drum sounds so you can add your own sauce to them. For pre-processed sounds...

And if you're looking for free drum samples...

Although thanks to Roland being utterly contemptible tightwads, KB6 removed Roland and Boss samples. Sad.

I forgot about your original reply, lol. I discovered I had those on my old 2017 iPad Pro (my dedicated sheet music reader). All are backed up to Dropbox now anyways. 😉
You can also check bandlab for (+free) sample packs
And these are free as well.

Happy downloading!
If you're interested in ambient, dark ambient, synthwave, drum and bass, or the like, I recommend becoming a patron of RemixSample. He posts great Koala videos on YouTube, and shares the samples, and the Koala project files on his Patreon. I'm a patron, and learned a lot about using Koala for ambient from him. He's friendly, and always up for a conversation.
Find him here:
https://www.youtube.com/@RemixSample
There are loads of Koala videos by RemixSample in this playlist:
His Patreon is here:
https://www.patreon.com/remixsample/posts
If you like the sounds, his Patreon is well worth it at £5 per month. You can ask questions there too.
I would also add:
Glitched Tones
SoundGhost
Landr (If you have a Landr account, most of the SoundGhost sample packs are available on Landr too).
Polyphonic Music Library (See https://polyphonicmusiclibrary.com/collections/library-full)
Oh, and don't forget http://archive.org for free material.
It all depends on what style of music you're looking to make.
But the best adventure is to capture your own samples, and edit them, creating your own sample packs. I started with just a few, and learned from them. Especially the RemixSample Koala packs I suggested earlier.
You might also want to join the Koala Creative Community, where you can get loads of tips, join them on Discord. They have weekly beat flipping contests, for which they provide samples every week. A great place to ask Koala questions too, as is the Koala Sampler Discord. Both communities are friendly and helpful, so there's lots of opportunity to learn more there.
Message me if you need an invite code to join either community.
Thanks for this, @ehehehe.
Hainbach's isolation loops is a good pack and it's free on bandcamp! Also Jamie Liddell did an isolation loops pack that's good
In fact do a bandcamp search for sample pack there are tons of free ones!
Legowelt’s are pretty good too
http://legowelt.org/samples/
Reverb also has plenty of free stuff
https://reverb.com/uk/marketplace?category=samples-and-loops&product_type=software
Some free Foley packs: https://cymatics.fm/blogs/production/free-foley-sound-effects
Nice, never saw this one before and I’m a bonafide free sample hunter, lol.
Samples From Mars has great stuff. A couple times a year they usually do an everything bundle for like $40, and it’s a lot of great content.
DrumDrops has great stuff.
It’s easy to find free stuff with some searching, there’s even lists of the best free packs available out there.
Lots of free stuff out there, some sites I like.
Cymatics
Landr
WA Productions
Reverb
Slate Digital
MusicRadar aka SampleRadar
GoldBaby free stuff
Legowelt
Noiiz free packs
I’ve been searching for some foley samples. Thanks for this 🙏 I can’t wait to try.
Thanks everyone.
Thank you lol this lead to a couple of feee packs I didn’t even know about.
@cyberheater this is a good one. Just strip out the .wav files for use in any sampler:

From this article on Polyend: https://polyend.com/whats-up/noir-the-tracker-has-become-an-integral-part-of-my-sound/
There’s a splice app in the AppStore that lets you browse their entire library, they also do this on the website as well. Additionally the iPad has a screen record function. Additionally Koala has an import from video function. 🤷♂️
Some free Foley packs: https://cymatics.fm/blogs/production/free-foley-sound-effects
Did you get that Toy instrument pack? I got the other two without issue but never got an email for this one.
Haven’t tried it yet, but bookmarked it for later. Gonna wait until tomorrow or Tuesday when I’m off work so I can actually dive on afterwards, but I’ll report back and let you know if anything happens with it.
There should be a p2p “splice” of sorts , so many great free samples
I use Koala exclusively to make my own samples.
My kids love playing with it too... walk around the house hitting things, making sounds then putting together a cheesy beat.
I have more than enough other instruments that can play back samples, both for drums and instruments on iOS and Mac. What I love about Koala is its immediacy as an actual sampler of your own stuff.
Not sure I'd ever want to use it with 'other people's' samples! :-)
I have yet to try that. Sounds fun.
